I'm in Vette Magazine!!
I'm getting e-mails tonight telling me I made it into Vette magazine this month! Too bad I'm on the road traveling this week in Greenville SC and haven't seen it yet!! Tomorrow is going to be a Loonnngggg day until I can get my hands on a copy!
The pics were taken at the Fastest Street Vette in TX race last March. I had gone over the night before to do a little testing in the cool night air. I got in one badly spinning pass on the dew covered track (10.08) and got asked to leave! The owner told me there were WAY too many witnesses there to have me running that fast in a convertible with no rollcage! He's always been real cool and told me to come back the next day when there were just us Vette guys there and it would be OK.
So the next morning, here comes the photographer saying he heard the car ran pretty good and that he wanted to take some pictures. Well, I gotta tell you I was flattered.
I asked him if he wanted me to clean it up some..it was covered with rubber chunks and was in "race mode"..which isn't really too photogenic.
He said "no way......I want it just like it sits....no one will believe you're racing this thing!" He wouldn't even let me wipe it down....
So we went to end of the track and took a bunch of pictures. "Race Mode" means I have the slicks on it with steel rally wheels, a set of borrowed skinny front wheels, a carb spacer, hood extensions to **** the rear of hood open to clear carb/with spacer, line lock controls and shift light plugged into their hidden plugs and in use, duct tape across the windshield header to top junction of the softtop...(keeps air from lifting the front edge of top and popping latches at 140+ mph!). Plus lots of rubber chunks all over it from aggressive burnouts.
Anyway, I think he got some great shots. Hopefully he used some of the "launch shots"..some looked pretty cool!
Plus...the best part was I won the Naturally Aspirated Class that day (again!)and also got the Highest MPH trophy! It was a great day!

Picked up the magazine last night. Very cool! You have the ultimate machine. Burn the 1/4 at 141mph and still drive her on the street. Incredible.

Congrats!
Congradulations! Lot of hard work and effort has paid off! I can only hope that I could put enough hard work and effort in to my car to have a high enough caliber vehicle to recognized. Oh yea lets not forgett having enough money to sink into the vehicle.

You deserve it Jim. He have put alot into the car. Not just money but tender loving care. You are not afraid to tear it down, make changes or just check for any areas that might be a future problem.
I don't buy vet magazine but I will have to get my copy.
Any chance of getting it autographed?

Big time congratulations Jim, very well deserved. Now if I could just find the damn magazine. I am traveling in FLA and can't find one even though there is a Barnes and Noble on every corner. AARGH.

That is great, Jim. Your car is just the coolest and it's great to see you get some recognition. I will be looking for it when my issue arrives!
