Re: When I see a Customized C3 .... (The Wanderer)
It makes me want to puke. :U :U :U Just kidding. It just seemed like a good opportunity to use the puking smiley face :D :D It's your car, so do what you want. Just try to do it tastefully.

I like them done right, but unfortunately that excludes about 50% of most show, particularly Ecklers....
absolute WORST paint job I ever saw was this HOT metallic overdone PINK on a C4 in Carlysle about 5-6 years ago...I think everyone laughed....
I was standing there thinking it was the UGLIEST car I"d ever seen even for a vette ,and this nut case standing next to me asked what I thought, I just laughed and said it was the ugliese *** pink looking paint color I'd ever seen and the body custom was worse.....
we allmost got into a fight, he was the car's owner....
snicker..... :D  :boxing :jester

I think customs are great as long as they are done right. The ones that are not done right are just fun to look at and laugh to my self. As hard as it is to keep a car stock it is allso hard to make a great costum car. :jester

Done cleanly almost any customization can look cool.
Done poorly, it's a sad sight to behold...

I love my custom vette. It represents what a 1980 convertible would have looked like. It looks bone stock other than an 80 body with ragtop. I too agree that done tastefully, customization can enhance the look.

I'm not a NCRS type by any stretch- Vettes were made to go fast & I believe in creating horsepower along w/ improving handling & braking. At the same time I'm not big on body mods. Yes I have an L88 hood on a non-L88 car but it's primarily for improved performance, plus it's a factory designed part.
I still think somebody has the right to do as they please- the only real exception to me is if the Vette in question is rare or has special historical significance. That's when I think they should be preserved as they were created.

I prefer a stock looking car. But i have seen some customs that made a very sharp shark. Most don't succeed in bettering the original look of the car. Some have been very bad.

Under the body:
Go for it. Duntov would be proud of a small block with 400+ HP and taking advantage of all the new suspension technology.
The body:
I love stock Corvette's, but, especially with the C3's, there are some years that just dont have QUITE the right curves, and on these cars, it seems like body mods like air dams and skirts (when done right!) are really trick. Just don't over-do it. If there's any question that it's a Corvette, ya dun it wrong.
My car is gonna look pretty stock, the motor's obviously not going to be (454 baybeeee!), the ignition and fuel injection (eventually) won't be close to stock, and the suspension will be largely Vette Brakes equipment. The paint job, Allah or whoever willing, will be a Baldwin Motion copy, so that won't be original, but it sure will look good. Seems like I'm taking my own advice here. :chevy

I like ALL Corvettes but like the ''custom'' ones more!
I have always said...''to each is own''. You do whatever you need to do, to make it ''YOUR'' Corvette.
We ALL got Corvettes to be ''different'' in the first place!...so what's wrong with alittle more??

As long as it's tasateful, go ahead and customize it. IMHO I don't really care for the sunken in square headlights, with all the curves the car has they just look out of place.

Re: When I see a Customized C3 .... (The Wanderer)
when I think of custom cars I think of funny cars, street rods with lots of chrome, phat meats, body effects , colors schemes . and there are vettes that are just one color and look great too .
my version of a custom c3 with the above attributes would be the manta ray, mako shark style .
:D

Liking a corvette has to do as much with the person owning the car as the car itself. One problem with heavily modified corvettes is they seem to be owned by bubba’s.
Where just lucky that bubba’s not computer literate , so he couldn’t be a member of this forum.
