Project budget LS1 has begun
My brother called and said my block arrived, well here it is a brand new ls1 block never been run, thanks to my bro,i got the heads, rods, pistons, cam, rockers, rings, hea d gaskets, from his 2004 c5 with 2000 miles on that stuff, and i got the intake rear engine cover coming and lifters coming and the coil packs and brackets too.Im hoping to have evrything needed by dec. to start assembling.Still need to decide the cam not using the stock one.

Wow looks nice, you can make some serious power with those motors. But how do you get a budget buildup starting with a brand new block, I would think a block out a wreck in a junkyard is ususally the start of a budget buidup ?

Depends on the deal you get on the brand new block!!
On the cam, I'd say that something around 228/230 or so should be good. I like my 224/224 but, like everybody, I think I would want more.

looks great
without the computer stuff you can run very nice cams in the LS1 - try www.thunderracing.com, they have very good packages

If I were you I'd junk those head gaskets, and maybe even the piston rings. 2K miles or not they're still used.
And as I said before sooo envious. Traction will be a problem I'm sure.

That's prettier than a boquet of flowers! Can't wait till you get her finished.I've got a stocker in my Pontiac Formula, and it's been a little FUN lately with the wet roads. You'll have to learn to tame yourself some.HA!!!!!!!!!!

You're going to have to relearn driving the car after having a TPI motor. Its the exact opposite. The low end grunty torque is gone but it will snap into the powerband at 4,000 RPM's where the L98 falls on its face. I seriously considered this swap after seeing how well my C5 responded to bolt ons.

Pat check out what I found on Speedway last night ordering more parts.
$170 bare and $275 coated. Remind me why I'm building headers.
Your in for the long haul now.
