Default torque convertor

who makes a good stall torque convertor for a lock up turbo 350. I am tired of putting it in neutral or holding the pedals to idle, plus I think it will put a little more fun in the driving. it is 1981 with a 383 and 292/500 lift cam stock rear gears. i was thinking about a 2500-3000 stall

When I did mine, the tranny shop recommended that a TH350 be installed as the selection of converters was greater. As I recall they only dinged me $350 for a rebuilt tranny with a transgo shift kit and hardened sprag. I bought a TCI stall from Summit Racing. You should contact TCI for more insight on your options.

If your switching feet between the gas and brake pedals to keep it runnibg in gear, you definately need a good converter. TCI and B&M are a couple of the more popular converters. 2800-3000 stall and a nice respectable idle at around 800 with a solid lifter cam will bring back the joy of an automatic. A little creap in gear is easily handled with light brake pressure.

I personally lke the B&M Hole shot converter. Just installed a 2400 in my son's 23 T-Bucket. We couldn't hold it back in gear and it solved all our problems.

Simply stated, your post asked for names of stall converter companys. I originally suggested TCI and B&M, two of the more popular performance trans parts suppliers. You had found only Hughes.

I would go with a B&M myself. I have destroyed many other brands with my 452ci mopar. If your having problems finding one its because of the LOCK-UP. Its made to lock the trans and converter at highway speeds for better fuel mileage. performance torque converters usually dont come with a lock-up function because of the intended use of the converter.
