Default Pictures of my hydraulic clutch master

This is a couple of shots of my 85 one ton truck master bolted to my 75 firewall.
It bolted into existing holes and other then a linkage shortening is was a true bolt in for me. Anyone worrying about the firewall flexing will find there is already a steel plate behind the firewall on the inside’

You will notice that the fireglass even has a raised portion for the master to sit on. If it wasn’t for the longer linkage you would think GM designed it for our cars.

This shows the raise seat on the firewall better

This is the coleman remote reservoir mounted up under the fender totally out of the way.

What slave cylinder did you use?

My bellhousing was from the same 85 one ton truck so I just went with that slave cylinder.

Norval,
Thanks for putting up the pics. I'm sorry, but I don't know which trans you have. Are you still using a Muncie, or have you upgraded to something else? Am I correct to assume the 85 1 ton bellhousing bolts up to a Muncie and uses the same clutch assembly?

Thanks
Ken

I switched to the Tremec 4 or 5 years ago. Before that I had the Mustang T5. A muncie would also bolt up. The clutch doesn't care which transmission you use as long as the clutch disc has the right splines.
Before that I was running a number of automatics.

The reason I am posting on this lately is because a number of guys on the forum are doing the conversion from automatic to stick and I am helping with ideas on how to run a hydraulic clutch.
Buy the parts I suggest and it is just about a bolt in deal.

Good pix. Hydraulic systems are nice.

What transmission is in the 85 1 ton? Is it a direct bolt up? I am trying to figure out which transmission would be the easiest to install.

I did more searching and did finally find the metal brace with the hole on the inside. It was hiding behind the large trunk of wiring from the fuse box. I do have one more question though, did you modify the auto brake pedal or do you know where to locate the smaller brake pedal?

I found a very reasonably priced set of brake/clutch pedals on eBay a while back. Look around there, and be patient, or call a Corvette junkyard.

With Norvals help I am converting from Auto to a Ford T5 and using the 85 hyraulic setup exactly like Norval's. The project basically started last Monday. Tonight I finished installing used pedals from a 4 speed vette along with the 85 master cylinder that Norval used.

As for swaping in pedals it is not hard but takes a lot of time(6 evenings). The steering column, power brake booster, drivers seat all need to come out...not fun working under the dash.

Regarding the hydralic master. My firewall was not pre-drilled like Norval's was. But...the metal plate on the inside of the firewall was(except for the bolt holes). I just drilled through from the inside and then positioned the master the way I wanted before drilling the bolt holes. The alignment is perfect. Norval being the great guy that he is...shorted the master linkage for me along with an adjustable sleeve. The master installation was very easy and fast. It is the pedal swap that takes the time.

Pic of the Master with Norval's craftmanship(shaft was cut and threaded into a sleeve.

What great price for you. I just paid 75 for a clutch pedal only at ecklers and figure I could just modify the brake pedal. We'll see.

Chris
