Just completed my first vette mod!
So there I was, with my 82CE and an open hood. I knew what I wanted to do, and quickly found the tools I needed. 4 bolts and 2 hood louvre solenoid connections later it was done! I had removed the hood air door, my first ever mod. What have I started ?
The easiest and cheapest mod you can do for an 82CE that I've seen. Anyway, I know this is Kindergarten for most here, but tonight I am proud of myself. I work with computers, servers, networks, and angry customers all day and I never was much of a gear head. Funny thing is, as I get older I get more an more interested in it. I loves me vette.

I hear you loud and clear. The most relaxing "therapy" after a week of work is to sucessfully finish a small (or major) project on my 72 Coupe. Very satisfying........

I started with replacing the rear spring and new lower ball joints. That was three years ago. I now have a coilover suspension, 200-4R, and I am rebuilding my differential with 3.90 gears. You're done. You'll do a few minor things and then poof, your car is in pieces on the garage floor.

mine runs and drives for the first time since i bought it 8 months ago. I kinda dont want to jack with it because I wont be able to drive it if i do.
Then again, i would love to throw a better set of heads on her.

Little things make a difference
It may sound stupid to someone who just slaps the key in thier Civic and drives it....
Working on the Vette and then enjoying the results is sort of like the first cold beer on a hot afternoon. It's just damn good!!

That's one of the first things I did to my '82, havn't stopped since.
Don't throw away any of those parts. On my car it does not matter much, but with a CE, you need to keep it as stock as possible (visually anyway) at resale.
They are worth a lot more than the normal '82. Have fun and take good care of it, there arn't too many of those around.

Removing the air flap was my first mod too. Then I modded the air cleaner and added headers.
If you are interested in the air cleaner mod details go to the crossfire forum. Wth just these relatively cheap mods I reduced my 1/8 et by .30 sec.
Warning: once you start modding, it's hard to stop.

Doesn't look too tough, except I don't know anything about headers. I'm not going to the dragstrip with her, but I'm interested in anything that will give her a little more pickup.
I will check out the crossfire forum, and glad to hear that I'm not the only one who has ever thought "just one more mod". However, I'm taking photographs of everything along the way and keeping the parts safe.
One more thing, Clint. What is a gutted cat ?

I almost fell out of my chair at this one! I'm in the same boat as the OP here, even in the same line of work. I have been tinkering here and there. I started with breaks, minor adjustments with the door handles and lights, and am currently contemplating a complete front suspension rebuild and steeroids upgrade. Parts are definately going to ba all over the garage.
Dont forget the empty bank account you will have to show for your efforts!!
