Default What brand/kind of spark plugs?

What brand/kind of spark plugs do you use in your stock mid to late 70's small block? Delco "Rapid-Fires" were recommended to me by salesman. I plan on installing tomorrow. Just wanted to know what anyone else was using.......

KEEP DRIVING!!!

Accel shorties are good if you've got headers.

I'm using Bosch Platinums right now and am very happy with them.

I use nothing but Bosch Platinum on all my vehicles if they are available. If not then I go with a NGK.

I just bought the AC Delco Rapidfire #3 for the Vortec heads. I wasn't in any hurry and picked them up for a little over $20 with shipping.

depends on what Im feeling like when It's time for replacements:

usually either Bosch replacements or AC-Delco replacements. Nothing fancy.

If you like the regular AC plugs, buy all you can now. They're phasing them out of production, and replacing them with rebranded NGKs.

Nothing against NGK. Just an FYI.

I'm on my 4th brand of plugs right now. I've tried AC Delcos, Accel header plugs, NGK's and now finally on Autolights. I've paid $5 each for some of the other plugs and the $1.29 Autolight are performing great. Dad said he had the same issues w/ his Big Block.

I ran Bosh in my '91.

Autolites for the 12+ years I've had my '71. They're cheap and run great.

I got the rapid-fires in today. Only had the opportunity to take it for a quick spin to test. Ran smooth but can't say for sure whether I felt any performance gain. Will post tomorrow after I take it on it's daily jaunt to work (50+ miles round trip).

Before spending a bunch on plugs, look up one of the many comparisons/reviews. All of the fancy rapid/split fire plugs don't really give you any real, measurable power. All you have to do is ignite compressd gasoline vapor. Most plugs when paired with a working ignition system will do this job just fine. The only thing I have seen is heads that have two plugs per cylinder. This help by creating a second ingition source so the flame does have to travel as far to fully combust the fuel. Perhaps someone would like to challenge me on this?? I generally use platinum if I will be putting on a lot of miles as they last a LONG time. The ones in my truck have 90K on them and have not had to be regapped.

I'm running Rapidfires, like Page said, in the L48.

No issues with either.

Hey, we spend too much on many things for our cars, so why not overspend on spark plugs also?

Go with NGK Iridiums.
