Default 73 w/ air heater core replacement

Can anyone tell me where is the best place to get a replacement heater core? I would prefer not to have to rebend anything to make it fit.

Thanks
Jeff

I got mine from Corvette Central, any of the corvette parts places will sell them. NAPA sells heater cores that fit. Mine installed with no bending, except on me to get it installed.

Default Heater Core Replacement

You have chosen the most difficult task for the 73 Corvette. I've done it twice. The Heater core is very particular in the bends of the piping and you must remove the air conditioner box to get at the retaining pan and screws. This is in the engine compartment. Also to remove the core you must pull it backwards into the cockpit from under the dash right side after removing the right side glove panel and flow box. As to buying a replacement, they are redily available at any deceant radiator shop. I've never paid more than $49.95 for one and I baught one just 6 months ago.

Worst possible job there is. Once I had the entire passenger side dash out, I figured screw it, may as well just take the whole interior apart to redo it. OMG. I have never worked so hard in my life. Then to get the AC box out, it almost would have been easier to remove the engine. Jeez. What a job. But you can get the core pretty much anywhere. Don't forget to get the seals though, or it will leak air.

I currently have the complete interior out except for the left dash. I figured I would change the heater core while I was this far in. I know there are come A/C box studs with bolts on the engine bay side. Are you saying that I will need to pull the evaporator box too? I've done that twice already and won't do it again unless the engine is pulled. Please tell me this is a bad dream.......

Here is a great "how to" post that may help' I plan on doing the same thing as soon as the weather breaks. I already have the dash apart for the new DIN radio install project.

the evap box doesnt have to be touched, it's an AC car so everything is done from the inside of the cabin
