Default Wheel guys: Fake Torque Thrust IIs

Would you wheel guys check these out and let me know what you think? I emailed him and I can get 4 1/2" backspacing but not 4".

http://cgi.ebay.com/ebaymotors/ws/eB...spagename=WDVW

ebay item # 7957818664

For this price, they seem great. Also I recently read that Eagle wheels are still made in America while American Racing wheels are now made in Asia (quality control problems).

So...

Will these fit? Will I need spacers? If so, how big?

Most importantly: Are Eagle wheels good???????

Thanks

Keep in mind that these are just polished aluminum, not chrome, not even clear coated. They will look nice for about a month, and after that you will spend every waking moment polishing them..... This is from experience

I have a pair of American Eagle 17 x 9.5's I just sold to a forum member, and they are every bit as good as an AR wheel...they look almost identical, spoke is ever so slightly different...nothing you could see unless you could put them side by side and take a good look.

The 4.5" backspace could be a problem in the back depending on the tire as you would have to move the e-brake bracket.
Also the wheel would be a .5" further inside the wheel arch...which (IMHO) doesnt look as good........of course a .5" spacer woudl fix that.

This is correct, however not that big of a problem unless the car is a daily driver. the polished aluminum needs more attention than chrome, you'll need to polish it very often... however, chrome can come off the rim... the polished aluminum rim can be sanded and buffed after you hit a curb or something...

My wheels are 4 inch backspacing and 11mm offset. Probably what you need as well.

I cannot make myself buy something that is less than top quality. Wheels, sidepipes, air cleaner, or whatever. I always want the best.

I have TTII's and keeping them perfect is no problem whatsoever, I have had them for a year and they look the same as the day I put them on. My car is not a daily driver.

Just as an FYI..go to Vintage Wheel works website and check out their "specials".

Currently they have blemished 17 x 8 V40's for $220 a piece, I know they are a little more than the eagles...but they come in the right backspace 4", they come with center caps and lug nuts (theres $25) and 4 wheel spacers and possibly longer studs for the Eagles will be close to $100. IMHO they make the finest and most accurate "torq thrust" wheel in 17". Dont be worried about the term "blemished", they might have a little scratch (which can be buffed out) or a little unevenness in the as cast finish on the spokes...nothing major.

Default Why Fake TTII's?

I have a '77 and I am presently shopping wheels. I like the TTII's, and would like to go to 17x8.

Is there a big price difference between the fakes and real?

Also, what kind of offset is needed for a 77?

Thanks for the help.

I've had 17" Eagle 211's for 2 years now. They were less expensive than 15" TTII's. The finish behind the spokes on the back part of the rim was not as nice as TTII's, not a big deal since its hard to see that surface with the wheel on the car. Other than that they have a decent finish compared to TTII's.

Mine have a 3 3/4" backspace. My tires are 235/55-17. I have a slight problem with the back of the drivers side tire rubbing on the frame when I turn the wheels all the way left. I am going to try to eliminate this problem by installing a 3/8" spacer behind each wheel.

Wheel polishing guys feel that the rounded spokes of TTII's and 211's makes these wheels a pain to polish. Therefore be prepared to pay more to have TTII's or 211's polished than flat spoked wheels.

The guy who sold me my wheels told me the finish would last longer if keep the wheels inside the house during the winter. They make excellent furniture.

Another member posted these when I was looking for "Cheap TTII'S. I bought them and they just showed up last night. They were shipped directly from ARE to the house. Came with the center caps, and I thought would include the valve stems and lug nuts according to the ebay number I had before. Now I see they edited they're ad/post. Overall I'm happy with thepurchase, even though I was a little worried about ebay purchasing with no contact except by email. Keep on eye on this company if your looking for wheels.

Now I have to get a hold of Luke @ TireRack for tires, thinking of the "new" Firestone Wide Ovals in a 255/45/17.
