Default Weak AC blower motor

I have a 1974, 454 big block coupe with auto trans and air
conditioning. I am having a problem with the AC blower motor; it just
doesn't seem to blow hard enough to cool the inside of the car. It
doe's work in all three speeds but in low and medium it hardly can be
felt, and in high it just doesn't do it. Is there an after-market unit
or something to resolve this problem?

Its possible to upgrade the blower motor to a mid-nineties c4 unit but it requires manufacturing a 3/4 to 7/8 in. spacer to accomodate the longer squirrel cage. Several on the board have done this and report much better airflow. I plan to do this mod before it gets too warm this spring.

I did this lsat year. Used marine grade 3/4" plywood and painted it black to hide it. The results were appreciable

You may also be suffering from leakage in the ductwork under the dash. The ducts were assembled with poor to no seals. It is likely that a lot of air is dispersing before it gets to your vents. You should check all of the connections where the plastic pieces fit together.

Yes. I rebuilt the dash and interior on my 76 last Summer. Did not change any hardware, but I did reseal the whole dash venting system and now my A/C blows fine.
