I just turned 30 and own a 79 hand-me down. My mother bought it in 81 and I can still remember riding around in the back of it with my little brother as a kid. I weigh about 200 now and can't beleive I ever even fit back there (oh how child safety standards have changed since then)!
She treated the car well and it's been going to the same mechanic for about 20 years. Mechanically it's in goodshape, but I'm in the process of getting a new paint job and cleaning up the aesthetic wear and tear.
What can I say. The new generation of sports cars just don't do it for me. There are certainly a lot of nice ones out there, but nothing new beats the character of the older models to me. I may buy other cars in my life, but I'm never selling this one.
