350/350, Muncie 4 Spd and Headers
Testing the water here.
My wife and I just purchased a 1969 Coupe that's in rough shape execpt for the drive train. The complete drive train was rebuilt 6000 miles, but 3+ years ago. The block is not matching to our car and the interior is trashed so we have no real desire to go back completely original. We intend a completely custom car including a LS1 motor and 6 speed tranny.
Motor:
350/350 built to GM specs with a Crane Cam, 9.5:1 Compression Cast pistons, Holley 650 Carb, Billet Aluminum Serpintine belt pulleys (no PS or AC pulleys), Edelbrock performer intake, standard points/condenser distributer, cheapy painted steel valve covers, accel spark plug wires, accel super stock coil, accel plugs.
Also have a Holley 650 DP that I could include.
Transmission:
Muncie M20 or M21 (if someone can give me a good idea where the numbers are on this thing I'd appreciate it).
Headers:
Unknown manufacturer. pipes drop down well below the starter before they turn aft and merge. Need to be blasted and hot coated.
Can someone give me an idea what I can get for this package, I can supply pictures.
Thanks in advance.

Will you sell the transmission by itself? According to the book, "a suffix letter was added to the Assembly date Code on each Muncie transmission to aid identification...."
A=Wide ratio
B= Close ratio
C= M22 close ratio ("rock crusher").
The number is located vertically on the right side of the case just ahead of the extension.

Ok,
Still trying ID the tranny. I just spent about a half hour staring at the side the the tranny from under the car.
Date Code
P9M23 ....
Where's the ratio suffix?
I also found the vin number stamped a little lower in the same area so I have great reason to believe it is original, but why no suffix?

What do you want for the motor? I'll take it off your hands for a fair price assuming there's no major problems with it. (and I only live about 20 miles from you)

Hmm guess I didn't make it apparent in my first post, but yes the 350 is in good running condition.
I'm still working on coming to a final price. I'd prefer to sell everything as a unit, but may split it up.

Apparently the book is wrong ("Corvette by the Numbers"). I have the Muncie from my 71' on the bench and the ID the book talked about is no where to be found. In that case the only way to know what it is, is to pull the trans (which you'll have to do anyway) and count the grooves machined into the input shaft splines. 2 groves is a wide ratio (M20) and one groove is a close ratio (M21).
