Pair of 10 ohm 4x6 dash speakers, working condition
Guys,
Troubleshooting my non-functional stereo in my 72 LT1 and with suggestions here to look at the speakers. I have determined they are shot and have been
replaced at least once prior, but they look brand new, go figure. They are not the OEM speakers, although they are from delco electronics.
Anyone have any original functioning 10 ohm 4x6 dash speakers that they may not need any longer.
If not where is the best place to purchase quality replacements.

New ones aren't too expensive. Try Classic Car Speakers. http://www.turnswitch.com/speakers.htm. They have the size and correct ohm speaker you need.

Im looking for the same but for a 1976.
The link to Turnswitch says they are out of stock.
Any other ideas where a new set in correct 10 ohm are available?

AC Delco 15173233 is the available replacement. I have used GM 16047855 as well. May have to alter the holes and solder your existing conectors on any replacement you use.

Thanks everyone.
Great suggestions. The pictured speaker is what was currently in the car, at least on the RH dash. It looks brand new, but I have owned the car for 10 years and they have been replaced before.
I will figure out what to do.
Also assume the LH speaker replacement requires LH dash removal.

@toylman thanks for the suggestion, I ordered these yesterday.
One note - the amazon description says they are 10.75 x 7.25 and that size would obviously not work in the existing speaker location. Reading further reviews and photos, they appear to be actually 4x6 size so fingers crossed that is what actually arrives. Im "guessing" the 10.75 x 7.25 is the overall shipping box size?? time will tell.
@jhudec thank you for letting me piggyback on your thread to solve my problem at the same time you were solving yours.

The original speakers are 6 1/4" x 4 1/4" and the 16047855 I showed is 6 1/4" x 4 1/8". I don't have a 15173233 and it is not generally listed for 1970 an later although it should be the same size as it appears to be the latest GM replacement.
GM 15173233 Instrument Panel Speaker (autopartsprime.com)
I recall replacing the left side on 3 cars. On the last one, Like 62corvette, I also raised the dash and had enough space to work. I placed a 2x4 scrap, wrapped with a towel in between to keep the space open. I was doing good till I dropped my 1/4 drive socket into the black hole, could not see it and still had to remove the dash.
