Default Hooker 2225HKR Headers

I have a set of Hooker #2225HKR headers, N.I.T.B., (only taken out of the box to look at 'em once or twice) and it looks like I'm not going to use them on my car, so they're here for sale.

These are the "Super Competition Headers", these with 2-1/8" x 30" primary tube, 3-1/2" collector (not the little 1-7/8" x 3" examples), under-chassis (not side-exit) for '66 - '74 "BBC" (396,427 & 454; Note that fitment with A.C. might be a problem according to Hooker, this requiring some "fitting", though I have seen posts where others have said "just notching the bracket some makes it work", and others said "no problem"?) painted black.

These were over $1000.00 ($1100.-$1200); Summit (see: .https://www.summitracing.com/parts/hok-2225hkr#overview) & Jegs recently lowered their the price to $939.99 (inventory close-out pricing), plus their "oversize" freight. charge, as they have been "DISCONTINUED" and are "NO LONGER AVAILABLE" from Hooker Headers, and I called Hooker Headers and they said: "NOT TO BE MADE AVAILABLE AGAIN"! I'm not sure what anybody is suppose to use, particularly on a 454 (or larger) or anything that has any decent power that wants anything reasonably correct in the way of a header now?

My loss, your gain...................$700.00 pick-up or plus the freight.

Thank you,
Scott.

Now even a lower price! $700.00 + frt.

Wish I'd payed something less than what I did, as I'm sure "taking a bath" financially at this point!

These are "New In The Box", though the box is somewhat beat, but I'll box them up well for shipping if not a local pick-up.

Thank you,
Scott.

Maaaan!,............... this must be the Girls Club; just paint, tire & wheel combos, and how to hang AC on 'em! Aren't there any guys out there anymore trying to make more out of their Corvette power-wise? I wouldn't have thought that at over a thousand dollars a pop that everybody already had a set, but maybe...............?

O.K., I've had to date 700 views (you know you want them!), tell ya' what.................new, even lower price of $700.00 + the ride! I can't go any lower, I'll just have to save them for when the people say: "I remember when", and they've become a collector item!

Oh, and please, don't somebody get their "knickers in twist" over the girly reference,..........just kidding ya'!

Scott.

Is it: "ttt" or "Ttt" or "T.T.T." or ................?

Acronym for: "To the top" ?

O.K. I don't get out much!

Headers are still available.

Man............you guys' are tight!

Over a thousand "views", so at least some of you have some interest in owning a set of good headers; and at seven hundred bucks you'd be buying them for less than what Summit or Jegs was paying for them!

O.K., Christmas has passed, you don't need to feel guilty that you may have bought something (really cool!) for yourself , .......................and then you ignored others!

I must be gettin' old, as I thought for sure there were more big block Corvette people out there with a need for some good headers? Heck back in the day, if someone listed for sale a set like these, this cheap (no, these weren't the $99.00 ones'), they'd been gone by the next day!

Still available!

Hey Scott,
it looks like you’re not accepting PM’s
I still may be interested.
But here is the issue with big block headers on our Corvettes.
They just don’t fit.
And it’s not just on Corvettes.
I’ve looked on many different forums and they aren’t fitting Camaros or Chevelles.
Typically, they hit the steering box, the frame or the idler arm.
Many people have purchased one set, sent them back and the second set or even the third set fit without issue.
Most people just hammer dents in the primary tubes to make them work, which I refuse to do.
Its not just Hooker, people have the same problems with Hedman as well.
I’m expecting my second set of Hooker Super Comps to arrive today.
I hope they fit because this is header set #4 I’ve purchased with no luck.
If they don’t fit, I’ll return them and may purchase yours.
The only problem with purchasing yours, is if they don’t fit I can’t return them.
I know you paid good money for them and like me, you don’t want to loose too much on a purchase.
Let me see if the ones I receive today fit or not and let me get back to you.

Greg

I still can’t send you a PM.
The newest set of Hookers I received do not fit.
Can you post some pictures of the headers you have so I can compare them with the ones I’m now sending back to Hooker for a refund.
I know the ones you have are a different part number and I want to see if the primary tubes are run differently which might allow them to fit on my 73 big block.

So I’ve posted four times that I’m interested in buying these headers, but you have not responded.
I’ll try one more time.
Can you post a picture of the headers?
Can you take a measurement from the top of the header flange to the bottom of the lowest tube?
I would like to know how they compare to the 2123-1 Super Comps for ground clearance.

OCB - The OP has a phone # in the first post, have you tried to call or text him?

Just a thought

I did see the phone number he posted, but if he can’t be bothered to answer a post for something he has for sale, then…

I apologize for my absents here, and for failing to respond to your inquiries; but we get something around 2000 + emails each day here, many of which are B.S. and therefore we must incorporate spam filters to bring this down to something more reasonable and with this some emails, though not intended to be, are removed from viewing before we even start. And I think Alexander Graham Bell, who presented us the opportunity for real-time communication (1876 +/-), this versus the then teletype process (typing out a message, sending it off electrically, and then waiting for a response back; heck, sure sounds similar to texting & emailing of today doesn't it!), really is 'still' superior to the seemingly popular forms adopted today; besides one also gets to establish a more personal contact which might put them to ease that this isn't some scam, and that's why I try to always leave a telephone number as this seems to present the potential to work best.

Now, lets' be honest, as far as for the subject of header fitment, particularly "long-tube", and to complicate things even more so "long-big-tube" headers, and particularly not just with Corvettes, I have always cautioned potential customer purchasers of these things that the header manufacturer should have included a hammer in the box to aid in the installation process! If one is under the impression that headers should just bolt-up easily without fitment issues, though I agree that sure would be nice if they would, has not had much experience with this subject or is just not being realistic. Generally unless one were incurring the greater costs and inconvenience of having headers custom made to fit in "your" chassis with "your" vehicle being utilized by a custom header fabricator (who'll dent the tubes in for you in the process of his effort), I say forget about what anybody might tell you, that their headers fit "no-problem", as I'm just not going to lie to anyone like that.

I would certainly like to sell you these headers, they are a good product, and I'm selling them cheap, and if wanting to improve the performance they are generally one of the first purchases; but taking measurements with just a tape measures really isn't going to answer the question of how well they're going to fit, and if your already dissatisfied with your experiences with the "small-tube" version, I really couldn't recommend that you try the "big-tube" version as they take up even more space in the engine compartment. There's a reason the O.E.M.'s have avoided tube headers for so long, even though they realized the benefits long ago, and this is one of them.

But most are able to overcome this initial headache of the first installation effort, sometimes not really so bad, and even on the 'rare' occasion they actually do "just bolt right in", but just don't have them ceramic coated until after you've fitted them the first time.

Scott.
