My third tool is coming home, on its way home today. Rob Via had my third tool and is returning it to me where it will reside until needed once again. My first tool is in Texas and my second tool is in Oregon with future recall to be set when they are done.
All tools will be returning to my home for clean up, modification if required.
If you guys think the tools need to be modified I would be interested in understanding the changes you would propose and will consider having that done on the tools I own. We can discuss more in the days ahead.
Thanks to all for participating.

I messaged Bob K about possibly modifying his tool to add a 45 degree bevel to one side of the shoe (Allen said that the tool I have is his), but he has not responded.
David - do you remember if all or some of your tools have a 45 degree bevel on one side of the 'shoe' that gets inserted into the crossmember? The tool that I have does not, and that is preventing the tool from working. 25thToi says that the tool he has in his possession does have the bevel.
Thank you!
Brad

I received my tool back from Rod Via today and promptly took it out to inspect it. This tool was purchased from Zip Corvette, their part number TL-146 but then I also see another label under the Zip Corvette Label and it says it is Corvette Central part number 182100. I looked up the Corvette Central number and yep, same tool; no bevel that I can see. Anyway, this one does not appear to have a bevel cut on the edges if I am looking at it correctly.
I will tape the box on this third tool and put it on my shelf for now and wait on the return of the other two tools in time. Please do let me know how tools are being modified and how well that works so I can consider modifying these.
Thank you.
David

My third tool just came home and it does not have a 45 degree bevel on any part of the tool. Let me know where that may be needed and I will consider doing the same on this tool before lending it out further.
Thank you.

OK, I modified the tool belonging to Bob K, and added a 45 degree bevel to the side of the shoe that faces the rear of the frame. That was all it needed, and it dropped in perfect. Only took about 15 minutes after that to get my dent popped back out. Below are pictures of the bevel I added. I didn't quite bring the bevel to a sharp edge, and this was enough when I tried it in my crossmember.
David, I measured this crossmember tool (see crude pic below), if you wanted to compare it to the tools you have. Note that I drew the bevel incorrectly on the drawing, but the dimensions are from the shank of the bolt to the front and rear edges.
Allen, I am now done with this tool, so let me know if somebody else is in line for it, or if it should be shipped back to Bob K.
Thank you everybody!

Before packaging up the tool David had sent me to use, I snapped another picture of the bevel and you nailed it sir!

As mentioned, this is how it came to me directly from David which he mentioned it was a brand new first time use tool.
Glad it all worked out... I believe the Texas contingent are the only one's left to use/complete and return!
What a great outcome for all involved!

The Texas contingent has one tool (three users) and the Oregon contingent has one tool (two planned users).
The South Carolina tool does not have the bezel and will be modified to match the bezel put on Bob K's tool.
It just so happens I will be visiting with Bob K. today and I will take my tool down with me and compare the two of them.
Might as well make sure this tool matches the others before lending it out further.
Great catch Bryan.
Thank you.

I got it today and hopefully will have the dent repair completed over the weekend. If all goes well, I'll ship it out to the next member on Monday.

Front Cross Member Repair Tool #2
I have reached out now to SWCTX located in Southwestern Central Texas, go figure, asking if he is still interested in borrowing the tool and to get his full name and address to give to you for shipping the tool when you are done with it. We have confirmed the tool you will be using has the correct angle bevel on the front edge that helps when repairing the front cross member.
Leigh1322 did a good job of documenting the process and his paper is attached in this thread. I suggest you download it if you haven't already and give it a read. I am going to print copies and include them in the future when I loan out the tool.
Thank you again for responding and I look forward to hearing of your success in repairing your cross member.
Best regards,
David Howard

Dave, Did you see my reply saying that the tool was delivered to Eric last Friday ? You have not replied to my pm either ? It has been almost 6 days with no reply from Eric whether he has the tool or not.

I didn't receive a PM from you, you probably sent it to Allen.
I have not seen or heard from Eric as my three tools went to South Carolina (now back home); Texas; and Oregon.
Give Allen a heads up and he might be able to help you locate his tool with Eric.
Good luck and best regards,
David
