WTB: Smog pump pulley bolts 72 ish corvette....
Hi, I have a smog pump I am restoring. I am looking for the long bolts that attach the pulley through the large spacer into the pump. Could have RBW or SBC or possibly TR head stamps and lock washers. There could be other head stamps that I am not aware.
Also have question about the black plastic fan. In about May of 72, were they using the square blade fan or the angled off blade fan? Thanks, Terry

Hi Terry, As you know the NCRS tech guide says the white fan was used on early 1972 production, then the black. I have a 7801149 stamped 14021S that has the black fan. I also was fortunate to buy for my '70 an original white fan, hoses, no AL pulley, spacer, and bolts which are TR's. Also, N bolts may be correct as well, but I am not sure.

Do you have the bolts or are you just saying they are TR or N head stamps?
My pulley has the AL stamp after the part number. This system had a May June ish birthday.

I pretty much have a complete smog system for a May June car including exhaust manifolds and injector tubes that go into the manifold. Just need a few things to make it complete.
Need the pulley bolts (do you know what head stamp they used). Need the short hose and possibly 2 of the 2/72 smog clamps.
Do you know if black fan was square blade or angled blade?
No, I'm not familiar withe 1972 cars. Thanks, T

Thanks for responding. Would love to have them but wife just lost her job. All my play money is frozen.
I could trade for them. Do you need anything smog related ( I have a few things). I have some 68/69 stuff. Voltage regulators and horn relays.
Lots of little stuff.
Thanks

The N's were supplied with a restored system I purchased dated for my Jan '70 LT1. It came with an repro fan AL pulley. My recent purchase for the hoses, No AL pulley, spacer fan and TR bolts from the son of a '70 LT1 owner.

72 Corvette 454 May date Code
Did the 72 Corvette's 454 with May date codes also come with a white fan?
When did GM switch to Black Fans?

Pictures appreciated. I do all sorts of things to clean up the pumps. I degrease them by soaking them in water and purple power. Then I scrub with alumibright. I also use naval jelly and a stainless brush. Sometimes steel wool. I just keep working on them untill they start showing a nice surface. I try anything, no particular order. Naval jelly works good but takes time. A fine wire brush on a wheel works but need to break it in on something else. Be careful or it will cut into the aluminum.

Hmmmmm,
Based on information I'm getting, I would say "no." But there are exceptions to everything almost. If putting a system together, I would lean towards black with square blades. But, being a big block might be the difference. You never know. But there is no difference in the pumps. I would consider the date of the pump more than build date of car. Maybe an early pump found its way onto a later car.
I would be careful changing something on what appears to be an original car.
