WTB 7 blade fan for 70 BB LS-5 AC
#21
Le Mans Master
I've still got a 7-blade fan that was on a former '70 427 (NOM) of mine, but it may be a day or two before I can get to it. Stay tuned...
edit - Sorry, after checking it isn't the correct fan.

If you have an early car up to May 30 then it uses the small 2 3/8 fan clutch flange. Hard to find.
Hope this helps

Grant yes it does help. Do you happen to have a picture of what the 350hp is supposed to be with the clutch flange.
Thanks

Hi Jay
You need a 3955182 7 blade fan. 69 is the same but all are dated coded. If you want to be NCRS correct then you need a dated 1970 fan blade dated A to E from F the hole opening became bigger 2 5/8 for the larger fan clutch. Then all the bolt patterns ie pullies have to match it.
Here is a pic of an over the counter GM fan blade. Dated in the 90's but correct configuration if you have an early 70.
This fan is for sale. If installed you may get a point deducted because of a later GM replacement.
The only early fan clutch I have is 5/20/70 which will fit this NOS fan. I don't know the date assembly of your car but if your car is Dec Jan then you need an earlier dated fan clutch.
Hope this helps.
Grant
Thanks

Hello Grant,
My car was built on 6/6/70. I guess that it would use the smaller 2 3/8" opening. Is that correct? I will have to check and see what part number is on my fan blade. it does look like the one that you have posted. Thanks for your help.

Hi Jay
The fan clutch you need if you don't have one is dated about a month prior to your build date. I do have a fan clutch date 5/20/70 will be sold as a core and will need to be rebuilt.
I think I have sold all my 70 dated seven fan blades.
Grant
Hi Jay
I just found a 182 7 blade fan with date K 81 215.00 shipped Not sure you gonna find anything cheaper. Dated ones for your car are running around 350.00
If you need it let me know or available to other forum members.

Hello Grant,
I checked my fan blade and clutch and this is what I found. On the blade it is 3955182 with a date of 6 B 70 and the clutch is 5 12 70 SC. I believe that they are both original to my car. My car has never had any body damage so that is why they probably survived. Thanks again for all of your help and knowledge.

Hey Jay
Strip the paint off the fan blade and repaint it semi gloss. If the fan clutch needs rebuilding send it to John Jr Pirkle.
Nice to have original parts.

Thanks Grant and will do. Do you happen to know if part # 3927186 is the correct head for a 350/350hp A/C car. They are dated C 9 0 and D 3 0. I believe that they are also original.

To be more specific, for the small blocks only the L46 w/ AC used the 182 fan. The base model received a 5-blade fan. Also, the L36 w/ AC also used the 182 fan in 1969.

Does anyone know where to get a correct date coded fan straightened and balanced. I had work done on my Nov 69 427 390 w/ac all original and the mechanic ran the fan into the shroud. tips all bent up. date coded 3955182 D69, it is the exact same numbers as the one posted earlier.
