I have one, I thought the date was on the bottom, but it has L1-71 on top.
Would this work? If it will, I can get pics.

That appears to be a december 1971 built intake for a 1972 car......

If this is the situation it would not fit in my date range. I appreciate you trying.

Thank you so much for responding. The November 1970 date code is outside the window that I need for my July 1971 build date.

The ones I saw (around feb) look all dirty and greasy. Why not present them all cleaned up and shiny at the very least. Presentation is everything. Since this isn't a corvette only item I think I will wait for a better looking one and a date closer to july.

No need to hit buy it now on the first slimy one I see.

I hear you, time is on your side. But, as far as what they look like, I would not care. I would make sure it is complete with no stripped threads or broken areas. I assume you are going to clean and paint it anyway, right?

You have been a major help to me along the way to my classic! Thank you so much!

This is my first classic so I have little to know knowledge on how to put old parts and stuff together. I want to learn but for now I am driving the car like I stole it.

I like to try to keep things simple if I can. Buying a crisp clean and nicely painted one is in my cards. If these were very rare then would be a different story.

I would just caution you a bit on the paint. Chevy orange is not always chevy orange. Paint may not be close to the rest of the motor.

I would also be patient it terms of an intake. Try and get one closer than 6 months. While that is generally accepted for NCRS, the intakes were typically much closer than 6 months unless it is an LS-6 or other fairly rare GM motor. There should be enough out there that you can get really particular.

Make sure before you install the intake or have it installed, that you check to make sure there are no glass beads in the intake. It may look pretty but those glass beads can cause big problems in your motor.

My experience is to do as much as you can yourself so you know it is done correctly.

Still looking for a nicely dated intake manifold.

Plan is to get this part and have it installed the same time as the rebuilt carb I am getting. Kill two birds with one stone.

That date is about perfect. He is accepting offers.

I also like that it is coated in oil. Should clean up really well.

Hey hey hey!!!!!

Thanks for the find WB!

So clean up and painting....with labor and all....what does that run and from the sound of it "clean up really well" sounds like a no big deal?

I was really hoping to find one that already is cleaned up and nice paint and all but the date is really really nice on this one. It just looks really dirty....

But I heard you loud and clear regarding your advice that things should be done on your own to make sure it was done properly.

However....

I would like to see more pictures though. Want to be certain nothing is being hidden.

I have requested additional pictures.

How much is WB's finders fee though? I am most worried about that.

You're a stand up guy! I know it was difficult for you to publicly thank me!

You are welcome!
