Haha! At least the avatar change is at my choosing. It was not specified.
Anyway, credit is due to those who deserve it. End of story.
As I await additional pictures from the seller. Request was sent. I am doing comparisons between the "nicely painted" ones and the one you linked. I have noticed on the one you linked there appears to have additonal attachments I have not seen before.
Such as longer screws in place and some long curvy metal rod extending from the bolt that I have not seen on other intake manifolds. What are these and why are they on this one you linked and not on the others? I am just wondering. Perhaps these extra items on the one you linked are a "bonus" for having them there? I don't know hence my question.
I never make impulsive decisions and like to research the item a bit before i pull the trigger. It is a high dollar item so I want to just be cautious. Hopefully, I will get the pics shortly as item auction ends, but it wouldn't matter if it didn't if time runs out as I have the item number and seller saved so he can still be contacted after auction need be.
Once I confirm this is the one I want to purchase then I will decide on an offer.
Here is one I have compared with: http://www.ebay.com/itm/1971-71-Camaro-Chevelle-Caprice-396-402-454-Big-Block-Intake-Manifold-3955287-/301113143691?pt=Vintage_Car_Truck_Parts_Accessories&hash=item461bbdf18b&vxp=mtr

Clean up
Hey hey hey!!!!!
Thanks for the find WB!
So clean up and painting....with labor and all....what does that run and from the sound of it "clean up really well" sounds like a no big deal?
I was really hoping to find one that already is cleaned up and nice paint and all but the date is really really nice on this one. It just looks really dirty....
But I heard you loud and clear regarding your advice that things should be done on your own to make sure it was done properly.
However....
I would like to see more pictures though. Want to be certain nothing is being hidden.
I have requested additional pictures.
How much is WB's finders fee though? I am most worried about that.

I am guessing maybe $25 at a shop but no more than $60.

No need to wait for the carb to do the intake. If you buy this intake, get it cleaned up and put your carb on it. When you find the correct carb for your car, you can swap out in about 15 minutes.
If you are going to go through the trouble of finding a properly dated intake, make sure to find some original intake bolts. The head markings on the repros are very easy to detect.

Hi,
I'd think the manifold should be installed before it's painted so that the manifold, the gaskets, and the bolts, all have the same amount/degree of paint on them… just enough to cover.
Remember the manifold was in place when the engine was first painted.
Regards,
Alan

Well I haven't heard back from the seller on fleabay for more pics of the intake I am very interested in. I am not going to purchase something without getting decent pictures of it. I sent him another request and if I don't hear from the seller, his loss. I am just not going to buy something just because it "sounds" good.
So as it stands right now still looking for a nicely dated intake manifold here.

Thank you for replying to my WTB thread. My car is a July 7, 1971 car. This is almost 6 months prior to my build date. Although it would work for my car, I really am looking for one closer to my build date. If these were rare items I would be grabbing it in a heartbeat. I have noted your as a potential purchase in the event for some reason I have bad luck and cannot find one closer to my build date.

No problem. Hope you find the right one, and let me know if you change your mind.

I'll tell you what....
I'm headed to a local swap meet this Week looking for a 7040205 carb for my 1970. I'll take your Intake and Alternator #'s with me and see what happens.
I'll look for something within two or three month's before July 7, 1971.
Marty.
