68 Steering wheel
Is there a smaller shallower steering wheel that will go right in without modifications ? With my drivers seat all the way back I can hardly get in the car !

I'm 80% sure the S6 Step-series steering wheel from VSW (formerly Volante) is a direct bolt-on replacement. Perhaps someone with a 68 will confirm.
Other wheels will also fit, without the step, you can just run a spacer, or some washers, or not worry about it. (Like the Voltante S6 in my 80).

Top Flight also makes nice repro wheels. If a later year will fit (with the step), you could use one of those.

Long time 68 owner here. Though I have the stock 16” wheel I see a lot of owners use the later 69 and up wheel. It will bolt right up and has (I believe) a 15” diameter. It is black rubber with SS band. Hope that helps.

FWIW, here's the link to the Top Flight reproduction (I bought one in 1978 Oyster for my 79). The Volante wheel is smaller still (14" vs 15").

I have one that was sold for 1968 Corvettes many years ago. It is the same bolt pattern and works great. It is several inches narrower than the original and this allows entry and exiting without any issues. I might have bought it from Mid-America as they still show several different wheels available for the 1968.

I bought a reproduction 69-up 15" wheel from Corvette Central. I think that they were the first to have it reproduced and it is beautiful. It was made in Taiwan and has lasted over twenty years I think. Lou.

If I remember correctly the 69 and up steering wheel is also the optional steering wheel for the 70 and up SS Chevelle. It is on my cars. Jerry
