Oil pan for a BB?
A friend needs a BB oil pan for a semi-stock rebuild.
The GM Corvette BB pan is no longer available.
Any recommendations?

Does he specifically want the baffle flapper door? If not, then most any of the BB pans from the era will work. I had a Chevelle, or the like, pan on my '72 for decades without any issue. (Was fortunate to buy the factory BB pan from my local dealer in 2020.)

Get a Milodon unless he is more worried about looking stock than performance.

I have a 31188 on my 496 big block (4.25" stroke) and it works great.

Trap door with removable windage tray. I've used this and the larger capacity pan on my 69 with no issues.

Is it a Mark IV? I have the Moroso 20411 on my 502 (Gen V) and love it. They make a similar Mark IV version I believe. I also know the Milodon that Steve mentioned works great too.

Hey Leigh,
I have the Moroso 6 qt pan on my 496 and it is a nice well made pan, with perfect fitment.
When I bought my pan the engine builder had swapped from his standby Milodon because they were having fitment and quality issues with the Milodon pans.
I don’t know if that is still an issue.
At the time he recommended Champ oil pans because he said the quality and fitment were better than anything else on the market.
I remember I went with the Moroso, because they were the only one besides the Champ that guaranteed clearance for the steering, headers and oil filter.
Moroso and Champ both offered a stock type replacement oil pan as well.

I am a third with the Champ stuff........Moroso and Milodon come and go with quality.......
Most of the issues I have seen with the kickout pans is warping when they weld the kickout section on the stock pan core.......they will "corkscrew" and rock from one corner to another when the pan is just set on the rails....
That said...Moroso's pickup and pump kit is excellent.....the pump blueprinted....the braze all around the circumference of the pickup attachment point for no aeration potential....

The Moroso part number for the mk. IV is 20403, for the version with baffles.
As with everything else, it doesn't actually fit out of the box, but it can at least be persuaded to do so
