Default 1982 crossfire what is this connector?

The brown connector comes down from the distributor but doesn't seem to be connected to anything... I can't find a matching connector elsewhere... What is it?

It doesn't connect to anything. Not used.

Back in the day GM dealers had Kent-Moore testing equipment that connected to various spots in the car. That was one of those places to connect to. Chrysler had them too. It was the prequel to OBD. A little automotive history.

Good to know... ironically enough I replaced plugs, wires, rotar and cap on my 80 today and seen the same empty end at the distributor and was wondering about it, can't believe I came across this thread today.

It's also ironic you just posted that because I was cleaning up around the distributor getting ready to replace the oil sending unit and saw that same brown connector and stumbled on this thread..... I also found a disconnected wire and was wondering if it plugged in there...It didn't,,,it's some sort of bubba thing...
