Finally own an older corvette.....69!!
Neighbor finally sold us their 69 corvette after they had owned for 34 yrs.. Its basically stock and i am looking for a few items to make even more perfect. Like a tilt steering wheel and maybe even a correct intake and carb
I have found its got original block and heads and overall looks great. Thanks to all involved in the site to help others

Have you checked the date code on the tires?

Congratulations, that is a nice car and in a great color and the best year for C3's ever.
I have a silver 69 which had an L46 motor. Not sure what "original intake and carb means"? And I'm not sure from your picture if that is a small block.
But I have an original cast iron intake. It's heavy. I also have a correct part # Quadrajet, but incorrect date code. At this point I have no use for either.

Congratulations! Another biased 1969 owner here (L46). You have the one year only fender louver inserts. Your car looks sharp!
I see the 350 hood…what engine does your car have? What is the date code on the trim tag? It’s in the upper right corner of the metal tag found inside the driver’s side door. It will have a letter (month) and number (day). Letter A is August 1968, and it goes in order from there.
If this is your first 1969 Stingray, I highly recommend that you get a copy of Rick Bizzoco’s 1969 Stingray book, and also the 1969 assembly manual. There were several changes made over the 1969 model year build itself, so some things are “early” or “late” build. Chevy also made a lot of changes between ‘68 and ‘69, and then again from ‘69 to ‘70. I bought both of those publications, and find them to be very informative and helpful.
The trim tag date and VIN # will help you figure out if your car is early or late. Bizocco estimates the VIN of when some items changed.
Have fun! That’s the most important thing!

Thanks! One of the last few made; this date is December 15, 1969. The final assembly is more or less a few days after the trim tag was stamped and affixed to the body. 984 is Daytona Yellow on the exterior. ZQ4 is the standard black vinyl interior. Outstanding combination!
As others mentioned…the crucial date code, for safety, is the DOT code on the tires. Regardless of tread depth, old tires need to be swapped out.

Just beautiful.
If that's got the gigantic 16" fake-wood ocean-going ship-sized steering wheel you'd be a lot happier with a 14" aftermarket. A lot easier getting in and out.
and if you want to get rid of an aluminum intake in favor of a stock cast iron one, please let me know. I'd like to go the other direction. (350).

Thank you for the info. I am not really one who cares much about everything being "original" but i wasnt sure how close this one is to being the way it was produced. I have several muscle cars and this just might be our favorite so far. Of the c3's this is our favorite yr and was so very lucky to have been purchase it. We believe we got an unreal deal on it and are gonna drive it quite often. I will check the date on the tires but do believe they are within the past year. Any other input or suggestions are highly welcome!!

[QUOTE=Rowdy Rat;1607026561]Yes, a very late car… Pretty sure the last trim tag date is Q18 which would have the car finished on the 19th (a Friday in 1969). Two weeks off and 1970 production started with trim tag A05 (a Monday in 1970). Nice color combination too. Always a fan of Daytona yellow!
Enjoy your new (old) Corvette!

My eyes must be getting bad. Looks like Q15 to me.
Was it sitting undriven for long? If so, there are a lot of great threads here about what to look for and check (eg old gas in the tank, belts, hoses, etc.). There are a ton of members here who know everything about 1969 Corvettes inside and out, so definitely don’t be shy about asking questions.
If your car doesn’t have the owners manual, you may want to get one. Reproductions are available from all of the major Corvette parts vendors.
The 1969 assembly manual is available online as a download for free. I have it on my iPad, and refer to it often. I asked my local UPS store for a price quote to print the manual if I emailed it to them; for me, it ended up being less expensive to just order a hard copy from the NCRS. So, I have a printed binder copy and also a downloaded online version.
Great car! Enjoy!
