What heads should I use.
Hey guys I'm fairly new to the C3 community. I am currently finishing up a 1979 Corvette restoration. My final touches to the car is a good set of heads and I do have a comp cam in it already. The previous owner installed it. I was Just wondering if anyone had any recommendations on what would go best with my cam.
The motor is an L82. The previous owner said it was built to a 355.

It also has an Edelbrock intake and carb. I am not sure what kinds exactly.

That is the 280H Magnum cam.....a good old grind....I take it this is a 4 speed car?
My recommendation for heads is the Trick Flow 175DH.....with a set of Elgin Z/28 springs, 1.250 locks, retainers......I know Trick Flow uses PAC so call them and ask if they have a comparable flat tappet spring package. Team this with the Performer EPS....or Performer RPM Q-Jet if using the Q-Jet carb......
These heads come highly recommended by me after using two sets. My second choice is the Dart 180 Pro 1.......
With the flat top piston you will be at 10.5 to 1.....the Trick Flow chamber is 60cc and is a modern "soft" chamber....fine for pump gas.

280H is a fantastic, legendary cam - certainly not a mild cam, so you do want to make sure that you have the heads intake exhaust and carb to keep up with it. Jebby has some good input above. Eddie Performer RPM is a great choice IMO, but the RPM Airgap is a even better, and looks awesome - just make sure you have enough hood clearance if you decide to go that route. The stock '79 hood is fairly tall, but as always, do your due diligence - And there are drop filters as well to bring the filter down a bit.
BPE makes a pretty good head too - H8002K is worth a look.

I had a '76 L-82, 4-sp, 355ci with the CC280H. I used the Team G intake because of the low carb pad height and was able to run a Holley 750 Street HP with a 14" X 4" tall air cleaner under the stock hood. Later on, I installed AFR 195 street eliminator heads and a Howards HR cam 280 duration 0.560" lift. Dynoed (Mustang) 360 hp to rear wheels.
