The 79 distributor is not a computer. The HEI module is only 4 wires and does no calculations, it merely reacts to a trigger.

The only computer in the car is your phone, and possibly your watch.

No computers in the way modern cars are constantly being monitored but there is a mini-computer on the back of the tach. Nothing else I can think of.

I wouldn't think of a HEI distributor as anything that has to do with computers. And I never thought of the tach circuit board or for that matter the courtesy light timer board. I guess they are super simple computers after all.
but not anything like a modern engine management system. Or Body control module.
However you can add them if you like.

Yes. It's fuel injected (Crossfire). It has an ECM or "brain" as it's been sometimes referred to.

Nope, the LM1819 chip isn't a computer, it's all analog inside. No 1s and 0s....

are you suggesting 1981-82 do not have “computers” in them?

No, I'm replying to 67:72 who mistook the IC on the tach board for a computer. It's not. It's an analog chip.
