Corvette Summer; Dated 70s film with over the top Vette
I just watched (tried to watch) "Corvette Summer" a dated move made in late 70s, just after Star Wars. Saw it on YouTube, could only get through about 60%. The movie was supposed to be an adventure comedy, but due to its bad acting and crazy story line...mostly a silly B comedy. The early 70s Vette used in the movie has quite interesting/ridiculous body mods and was converted to right hand steering. Just sharing since it can be a retro movie to remind some of the 70s if they were a young adult then. Below is an article about the Vettes(s) built for the movie...

Just another Corvette guy
Agreed!
Saw it in the theater too. We'd go watch any movie that was even remotely car related. I remember we really liked "Phantasm" because of the badass 'Cuda, ....which is now lost to the sands of time. But we hated Corvette Summer, for exactly the reasons stated above. Total cornball story line, extra cheesy acting and the car was hideous by any standard.
I see now it's garnered a bit of a nostalgia following just because it's still around nearly half a century later.
Frankly, I'm glad this one's gone down under (no offense intended to my Australian friends), but if by some quirk of fate, I won the Corvette Summer car, I could never drive it on the road without wearing a fright wig, big floppy shoes and a red rubber nose, so I would re-body it back to a nice '73 coupe. That car's lived in disgrace far too long.

Annie Potts stood up to the ravages of time better than most of our cars did. Would still be worth ravaging…

The original might have gone to Australia, but I'm doing my part to help the North American population.

Being a teenager when Corvette Summer was announced, I was excited until seeing the travesty that was presented as the Corvette. I still ~40+ years later absolutely hate the customized appearance of the car. Never bothered to see the movie.

OP might be the only guy in C3 who’s never heard of Corvette Summer before.
PS…we liked it.

You can't watch movies made in the 70s through a 2022 lens. You have to put your brain in that time to truly enjoy the movie experience and for those that didn't grow up in the 70s it's hard to do. I saw Corvette Summer at a Drive-In somewhere around NAS Lemoore so I'm guessing in Hanford CA.

While on the subject of movies there was an obscure movie made in '70s called "Sorcerer". It starred Roy Schneider and directed by William Friedkin who directed the "French connection". There's a 10 minute long scene of two trucks crossing a rope bridge that will keep you on the edge of your seat! Tangerine dream did the soundtrack for that movie too.

Corvette Summer is a terrible movie. The Corvette in it is an abodimation. Sorceer is one of my favorite movies.
The 70's movie I like is Lifeguard with Sam Elliot driving around in his 427 convertible (stock).
My opinion,
