Corvette Summer; Dated 70s film with over the top Vette

Yes the Corvette in Corvette Summer was an abomination. A wonderful amazing over the top still in love with it abomination.
That movie was one of the reasons I fell in love with Corvettes and their possibilities.
Love it and hate that car all at the same time.
Danny Bonaduche is a radio DJ up here in Seattle. I saw him at an event one time and I said "Danny, to me you will always be the guy who got the corvette stolen". He laughed his *** off.

same here
Agreed!
Saw it in the theater too. We'd go watch any movie that was even remotely car related. I remember we really liked "Phantasm" because of the badass 'Cuda, ....which is now lost to the sands of time. But we hated Corvette Summer, for exactly the reasons stated above. Total cornball story line, extra cheesy acting and the car was hideous by any standard.
I see now it's garnered a bit of a nostalgia following just because it's still around nearly half a century later.
Frankly, I'm glad this one's gone down under (no offense intended to my Australian friends), but if by some quirk of fate, I won the Corvette Summer car, I could never drive it on the road without wearing a fright wig, big floppy shoes and a red rubber nose, so I would re-body it back to a nice '73 coupe. That car's lived in disgrace far too long.

Talking about taking you back in the day 67 cameo traco motor car built for Garner racing team and was bought for the movie, there are some bitchin race scenes that will bring back the memories .

Just another Corvette guy

I think my favorite car from that movie era was the '71 Cuda in Phantasm.

This place just keeps on entertaining…
A chevy based website where people don’t know how to spell the name on the hands down most popular street car ever to come out of Detroit.
CAMARO.

That's one of the most annoying things ever. The name is literally spelled out on the vehicle, and yet people still misspell it.

...that Corvette Summer car is a cobbled up POS as I've seen it in real life twice. Looks much better in the movie & pics than it does in person. There is also a pretty cool "Aloha Bobby & Rose" Camaro re-creation video on YouTube. Paul LeMat was Bobby & he was also John Milner in American Graffiti. Met him in real life at a car cruise-in in Ohio and he was pretty cool to chat with. Was in the early 2000's then.

It was a 70's movie. I loved that car as a teenager, It was aggressive and by comparison I have seen allot worse work done on later model Corvettes. Mike Yeager (Mid America) had the original for awhile but not sure if he still does. The movie is playing on Youtube for free right now.

Love it or hate it ... personally ... LOVE IT, but here we are how many years later still chatting about it. So obviously it had an effect , it reaffirmed your purist tendencies or as in my case egged me on to CUT IT UP! LOL
