Found an old pic...the day Grandpa drove the Vette
My Grandpa was a car guy. Pontiac man. It was his brand new '64 Grand Prix that lit my 6-year old fuse as to what a cool car was. It was light years ahead of my Dad's '60 Bel Air 4-door. It had a dashboard made entirely out of chrome. And 2 seats instead of 1 long one. I had my own when we went for a ride! So 12 years later when I placed my order on a new Corvette it was only natural that he would be one of the 1st I'd tell, and when I took delivery in May of '76 my folks invited him over for dinner & we'd go for a ride. His 1st ever in a Vette. I popped the tops and off we went. We cruised around Omaha for a good hour, Howard smiling & waving at every gal he saw... When we got back though I noticed a funny look on his face. Like he wanted to ask something. At that moment my kid sister came walking out the front door and he found his opportunity. "Danny, can I take your little sister for a ride?" Well....ah....gee....ah....Ok Grandpa. I took this pic and off they went...
All 3 would return in one piece and now 46 summers later I'm the Grandpa with 2 grandkids, both who think old cars are pretty cool...

These cars are great at creating memories. There are so many forgettable cars. The only memories I have from my Prius is the time I stuck the ignition key in the hole and the car didn’t recognize it and I was stuck on the side of the road.

Thanks Chili..... GREAT pics. And you just brought back another ancient memory for me. Those 3 center gauges.
I didn't like them being angled towards the driver. I couldn't read 'em from my seat on the right!......

Outstanding story and pictures. Thank you for posting this as I as well enjoy seeing others experiences with our Vette fascination.

That's so cool!
Sometimes we don't realize how important a little gesture can have on a child. Look how it influenced you. Keep paying it forward.

[QUOTE=ChiliPepperGarage;1605521148]Great story!
I'm a big Poncho fan and recently sold this 72K miles, all original '64 2+2. 389, 4 speed car. The dashboard in these car were outstanding.
Now that's a dash. Wow!
SEVNT6 - the look on your grandpa's face is priceless and the picture with you and the girls is just as special. Look at all those smiles.

Here's three of those four generations...
The last time my wife & I took a vacation in the Vette was the year our 37 year-old daughter was born.
And it hasn't been on a wet street since......
