Default Corvette big block engine, value?

Hi all, A friend of mine called me and told me she wanted to sell her ex husband’s corvette big block motor . She knows nothing about cars.but remember’s him saying it was a big block.. she thinks it’s from the late 60’s early 70’s . I have no used for it in my original 75 .. If it is a 427,454,350 or a LT-1 period correct motor any help on value would be appreciated..

I think this would be better received and responded to if posted in a regular discussion forum.

And you will need a price to post in this section, me thinks.

Pics will tell it all. Especially if you can get them of the engine stamp on the front passenger side pad the sitcks out where the head bolts down. Then all the cast in numbers on the back and sides

if its a real 427...start between $2000 and $4000 if its all there and the pistons arent junk and it doesnt have rust in the cylinders. 454 probably $1500 unless its one of the rare LS big blocks. Thats just going by what I see on FB and ebay. might not ever sell but thats what they want. I got a 69 427 with trashed internals for $2000. only thing that was good was the crank, block and oil pan

Well, it could be a truck motor or an unknown *LT-2! Just too many variables to make a blanket statement or even provide a usable dollar range (from free to Fort Knox).

*LT-1 is a small block; LT-2 not.

The other thread has the information but I would agree that it is a 402/240 HP big block cast on October 29th '71, assembled on November 18th, '71 installed in a '72 vehicle. It was either a Camaro, Chevelle, Monte Carlo, or some full size passenger car.

It would be at the low end of the big blocks as far as value. I would list it on Ebay with no reserve and see what it is worth.

ok got some info for you .. it is not BB corvette motor . I narrowed it down to a chevelle or Camaro 402 /240 hp but still a big block

As someone pointed out, you cannot post the engine in the For Sale section without a price. I will move this conversation establishing a value to the General Discussion section. The title has been edited.

Please do not sell there. The thread will be removed.

When you establish an asking price, please see this section which lists the details you need to address when selling for someone else. Please post your ad in the Parts For Sale section, with an asking price, addressing each point. Thanks.

could be a full size also, but it’s a 1972 LS3 probably 402 with air injection reactor pump (lo po probably 250hp)
If it has a good forged crankshaft that is probably worth more than the engine

the heads may be worth more than the whole engine. 454 truck people like finding smaller chambered oval port heads to get compression up over 8.

while that appears to be a good-looking stamp the suffix code "TB" is not a valid one used from 55-91. the casting number would help

It's not "TB"....IT IS "CTB".

3 digits from '70 and up..... "C" first charactet were used in cars. "T" first character used for trucks.

Looking at it now I see it’s a C. At first glance it looked like a 0.
