Safety Car
so My uncle used to work for Speed transportation , which did a lot of shipping for the nearby tonawanda engine plant. He told me a story he heard at work about a train derailment accident that involved train cars full of corvettes, apparently one of the train cars full of vettes was damaged so they dug a large hole and destroyed and buried the vettes onsite somewhere along the tracks to prevent any liability from anything on those cars from being reused or repaired... I dont know how true the story is but it stuck with me for some reason.. He also used to tell me about all the brand new engines they would cut up at work to prevent salvagers using them and throw in the dumpsters at work. one time they "found a trailer of complete big blocks that had been misplaced, they apparently were part of a large batch that had been found to have some sort of faulty component on them so My uncle watched them being cut up and dumped in the dumpster. they also apparently have a secured scrapping contract to prevent people from picking the stuff out of the dumpsters

But who owns THESE now? Arguably, one of the biggest mysteries in Corvette history... '69 BB 427/390 coupes originally leased to the Apollo 12 astronauts for $1 per year! I'd take the deal any day of the week!
Only ONE of the three pictured here are accounted for. Alan Bean's is owned by Danny Reed; however, the other two, sadly, are unaccounted for. The urban myth is that they may have been destroyed. Say it isn't so!
