I'm repairing the steering column on my 72
with the tilt spring contact installed inside the spring its causing the spring to bind
The tilt works fine when I remove the contact and just use the spring alone
Can I just leave the contact out?
Has anyone experienced this problem?

I just did my complete rebuilt on my 70 and you should put it all together ,something is wrong try again
