Default new purchase 1980

Hi, been awhile since I posted. I purchase a one owner 1980 Corvette over the weekend. seller was original owners widow.

front

The car has 49K miles, auto L-82. I've got the car in the shop getting new brakes and tune-up. then we'll see how it runs, I did drive it 65 miles home. seems to handle OK. the paint and body alignment is terrible, but the widow swear no accidents ever and looks fine on the rack.

Good luck with your new car. I also have a 1980 with an L82, and it is a really enjoyable car to drive, even on long trips.

Just a FYI between my two , my white L82 gaps and panel alignment is terrible. Black L82 gaps and panel alignment is perfect , I had a buddy (rip) that worked at GM from late 60’s to 1987 and he always said Black cars got the best bodies and based on my two I’d have to agree

Thats a good looking car to start with, it looks pretty clean. I always liked the 80-82 style. I just dont have room to add 1 more in my garage.

Have to love '80s! My two L-82 cars. Deleted the badges on the black car back about 1989 as I liked the slicker look. The wife made the same decision on her a couple of years ago. Black car has always fit quite nice. My sister bought it new and I bought it from her in 1982. The other car, not so much. It didn't have near as pampered a life before I bought it 25 years ago.

1980 was the best year for C3s. It's very cool to see one with the T-top holders.

Is that a functional grill insert where your "USA-1" license plate usually goes, or is it a license plate painted to match the grills on either side?

Mid America used to sell that decorative plate years ago. Had one floating around but think it went with my '82 when sold.

The grill part matched nicely but was purely decorative as part of the plate. Don't believe mine said Corvette on it though.
