70 LT1 new owner here, joining the forum
Just arrived via Uship (highly recommend by the way) from S Carolina.
Original engine is gone and scrapped says the previous owner. Installed is some variant of a small block built by RHS in the early 90's. Supposedly intake is original LT1,
Recent fair repaint, silver is mismatched from original, original paint left in door jams. A lot of mottling in the metallic. Body work poor or non existent, a lot of waviness in the panels.
Fairly rust free, birdcage in good shape, some rust repair done near the rear kickups.
Interior is tired.
Will be asking many questions, stay tuned.

Looks like junk, you should trade it to me for my fine, pristine, big box of parts '79.
Looks good, you should be able to enjoy driving and working on that, seems you have the right equipment.

May not be the original silver color, but yours is very attractive none-the-less. Looks like the car was well cared for....monoleaf rear spring, nice exhaust system.
Me thinks the car found a good home.

Thanks everyone, this is my first Corvette, I have much to learn.
This hood gap can not be adjusted, fenders do line up to the doors though. Surely this is not the way they came from the factory? Other side about the same.

Congrats and welcome!
Are you sure it is an original LT1? Doesn’t really matter at this point, but the hood may be aftermarket (post a picture of the under side). Very clean and should give you many miles of fun. I saw your other post on replacing the interior and going with red. That will look real sharp!

My Original paint car has pretty tight gaps. -
FWIW when the hood was off your car - it was stood on the end, which chips the corners -
I have gotten into the habit of laying hoods - every hood - on one of the side rails.

vetteaddiction, I understand the hood is adjustable side to side, but I have the same large fender to hood gap on the other side(at least what I consider large). Its like the fenders are too far apart, but that is nearly impossible as I understand because the front clip is a single unit.
Hood too narrow? Here is the underside, what am I looking for to confirm originality?

These are the measurements for a ‘72, I’m assuming a 70 is the same. Aftermarket front clips are one piece. GM bonded the fenders and front surround together using a jig. You would have bonding strips behind the fenders that you can feel and see if original. It’s pretty involved to fit a front clip, it’s possible someone didn’t get it quite right.
That being said, I think your car looks awesome and has a great clean frame!

The paint looks great from here! Idea: If you cannot adjust the gap(s) for some reason...when you have the car repainted, tell the bodyshop to add fiberglass to the hood edges to get the desired gap before they paint the hood. I had to go that route on my doors where they met the quarter panels.
