Default Important Corvette?

Howdy all!

I found this '71 on facebook. It has definitely seen better days, but when I look at the paint design I can't help but think this one has a legitimate story--like I've seen it before in old magazines or books or something. Reminds me of the astronaut 'vettes of the era. Does anyone know anything about this car or if it is special? Or is this just a case of a very "1970s" paint job that is throwing me off?

Thanks!

Baldwin vettes had similar t-stripe like that.
also, its an easy way to cover a rear end collision repair.
adds some spice without having to repaint half the car and blend the paint.

Supposedly all the Astronaut's Vettes were big blocks. That car looks like it has two small block hoods.

The (3) 69's were gold with the black -

The (3) 71's had a different paint scheme- White - with red/blue stripes Blue with red/white stripe and Red with blue/white stripe

The Baldwin motion had stripes on the rear- but a different configuration.

Looks like that car was just somebodies own creation-unfortunately left to rust away...

Baldwin Motion-

Once upon a time in its life, the car was important to somebody, but, from the looks of it, that was a long, long time ago.

It’a a car with a 70s paint job that’s throwing you off.

Another thing to consider here... way back then somebody see's all of the attention the astronauts get in those cars so they get the bright idea to have their similar color car painted with some stripes to impress the uneducated.... without thorough documentation the car is most likely worthless for the most part because of neglect and rust damage.
