It Took Four Years to Finish this Custom '72 Corvette
By Brett Foote

After four years and who knows how much money, this C3 drop-top is looking stunning.

Put it back in the oven for four more years....maybe that'll be enough time to remove the obnoxious C-5 psuedo-interior.

It just goes to show a 'full custom' may be a brilliant build. But not always are the ideas brilliant ideas. But it is different.
My car is built very similar with the exception of no LS and traditional interior. It deserves publicity.
This car is loud to the point of gaudy. A very personal choice in build, or having built, your own ideas.

Back in the day...you COULDN'T ORDER a blue car with a red interior. If you insisted on a bile inducing color combination they would take your order and make you put 100% down, non-refundable. In case the dealer got stuck with it on the lot.

Blue and red is a huge no-no.

Nice build, no taste.

My 1970 has a red interior and I've been playing around with exterior colors to paint it. I too have thought about a dark brigh blue color, and I've questioned the color contrast. A silvery metallic with a light blue clear overcoat....sort of a glacier light blue....is an option, but a I think a chrome car shows best with a dark color. The car was originally Malibue Grey, and that seems to be a popular color today and goes well with the red interior, but grey is pretty much of a neutral..and possibly....bland color.

I like the style of the interior but not the color.

Not sure I agree with the blue/red is a no go. The red interior 96 grand sports bring way more money than the black interior ones. You could order a blue exterior and red interior color combo on early c3's it just had be a COPO. This car sold at a past auction for over $100k. I wouldn't necessarily put in my garage but there is a market out there for this car and it will sell.

I'm with you brother.
A great car if only that interior weren't RED!
There have been a few of these Blue on Red restomods pop, up lately. It's like they've spent so much on the build that no conventional color combination will work so they paint it a bizarre combination. It's like a circus clown car, you just can't take it seriously. I think, in a few years this combo will look really dated (like the War Bonnet Yellow with Dark Green interior from the early 70's) and they will be noted for the oddities they are.
There's usually a good reason the GM designers didn't offer some combos.
This one? Even a fireman would get sick of it.

Looks great. Color selection is a personal decision and if you like it you made the right decision. The tires, flares and stance looks great. The Blue with red interior being a big no no I guess Gm has ben getting it wrong for years.

This an old build, can't remember the shop but they are out of business and the guy sold the car. The hood is the best part of that car its a BB/long hood mix that was done perfect IMO. Interior is based on a C6, he use to sell the kit. Wheels and interior / interior color are not my thing and I'm a modify it kinda guy. No one is going to argue about the engine unless you are anti-LS.

A little gaudy for my tastes....but that's a good thing; otherwise all cars would look the same.
