The day the music died
If any of you grew up with classic rock, ( it was just rock and roll as we saw it live) a rock and roll legend died today. Eddie Van Halen passed away after years of battling cancer. The reason I wanted to share it with everyone was I spent many a high school night cruising and laughing with fiends, with Van Halen and led Zepplin as the back ground music to our sound track. I equate music and cars togther.I always have a song roaring in my ear as I tear around the back country roads or rip up the highway to go to the beach or the mountains.......life marches on, but with one less of my rock and roll heros
To tie this into the corvette community for any (edited) that might say this thread doesnt have any corvette news in it, I think I tore up my first and third gear synchros in the vette. There we go, full circle ......

Sad news indeed. We will all meet our day with death, but 65 is too young. A true legend is gone. Sad day.

Most of my years working heavily on cars, and intermittently on my Vette, the radio has been playing rock music. A lot of it was Van Halen. This is a big loss to me but nothing compared to his family's. Go with God, Eddie, we'll see you again someday.
Where I work, many years back we made musical equipment for Eddie. One day in a long, tiring engineering meeting, everyone ready to snap, a head pokes in through the closed doors, looks around and smiles, and blew everyone a kiss. It was Eddie. Saw him around quite a bit back then, always had a smile for everyone. We all miss him already.

Sad Rest in peace!!! To me a Vette and rock and roll go hand in hand. I think that if I did not have my music, I would not even go out for a drive. With my side pipes it needs to be loud!!!.
I hate to say it but its a sign that we are getting old!!!! Yes I just said that!!! Sad!!!!

A Corvette and rock & roll?
When I bought mine new a song from Frampton Comes Alive was about every 3rd tune being played on the radio.
To this day, if I'm in the Vette & "do you feel like I do" comes on....man it's '76 again.....

Sorry, but if you believe Don McLean you're about 61 years too late. Eddie Van Halen was 4 years old when "the music died". Don't get me wrong, I liked Eddie Van Halen, but don't try and rewrite history there's enough of that BS going on already.

Theres certain songs, that when they come on and I just hear the intro, the pedal drifts towards the floor and others make it slam to the floor. Most of Eddy's intro could do that for me. Its just the memories and the influence that make ne feel and act 16 again. I drove around for and hour and a half listening to the raios tribute until it faded into static then a pandora station, then popped in my Fair Warning album from the box set I have. That was the album I was introduced to Van Halen with on a high school ski trip....Lots of memories to drive by.

This 2020 sh*t show just keeps rolling. With Neil Peart's passing and now Eddie, I've lost two of my rock n' roll heroes this year.
These guys provided the soundtrack of my youth. Although I did not know them personally, I have a deep connection to the music they made.
Both Neil and Eddie were car enthusiasts. Get in that Vette, blast some Van Halen and Rush, and burn some gas and rubber in their honor.
RIP EVH

Yeah, I remember cruising (and yes, sometimes boozing) to Van Halen in High school with my friends. Really takes me back to a great time in my life. That first album (that's what they were called then) was one of Rock's classic ones.
Man, could Eddie light it up!

Lots of V-H was played loudly through my Sparkomatics back in the day. RIP to a true legend.
