Default Need help identifying '74 454

Looking at a listing here for a 1974 Corvette 454 (old restoration) 4-speed manual. Here's what I know. Engine appears to have had work done. Seller indicated it has been "updated" with aluminum heads and an Edelbrock 750. I'm not really familiar with these engines, but the rocker covers don't look original and the air cleaner is definitely not original. Looks like an after market cleaner and a sticker... 460 hp was not something you'd get in '74. The VIN seems to check out - it is a 454 car. The hood doesn't look stock as well. It was likely replaced (or modified?) to clear the new intake. That being said, I believe that size intake would be appropriate for an engine that size.

Here are some photos from the listing. What do you all think about this? Can I be somewhat sure this is a 454? If it is, what might be a reasonable price to pay for it.

The entire top end has been modified from the original factory installation including plug wires; the radiator replaced and all the emission control devices removed. I would have no idea how to value it

You can be certain it's a big block, but that could be 396, 427, or 454. Ask the seller for the engine suffix code stamped on the block.

You should look to see what the numbers are on the engine pad, to see if it is the original block. As stated, the top of the engine is not original, nor the radiator. it is missing all the smog stuff and the Alternator is on the wrong side. This would change the value if it is not the original engine, though it is a big block car. Very cool that it is a 4 speed. The rest of the value would of course depend on the underneath and rust, including the birdcage inspection.
Looks nice in the pictures. Post some more if you can, closeups of the engine in the front.
It could be 460 h/p if the engine has been worked.

Isn’t the alternator on the wrong side?
