I hear you brother.... I think I am just worn out as I like to watch the corvettes auction on BAT.. But you gotta put up with every corvette know-it-all in the world try to express their superior knowledge by asking and stating silly things when they have no intention of purchasing.... This here is indeed different from that for certain!!!
To the red car in this thread, the rear louvers are not cut out, and the side "glass" appears to be black inserts...no seeing behind this car.

I have always hated the Mako 2 front end. Thank goodness they trimmed it down for the production cars.
The rear end I kinda like. But even better is that spliced C3/ C2 rear section that was recently posted.
Here it is.

John Silva actually lived down the street from me, I saw these cars on a regular basis and always wanted one. of his creations or kits. I did have one at one time but lifes issues caused me to sell. Too bad so many people dont know some of the history of how the C3 came about. Here is a great article if any one want to know more

There's half of a Maco in NY for sale. It's got the right *** end, but the nose is an Eckler Monza style tilt.

I like that vette, lots into it that someone will never get out of it. Guy says he will take reasonable offers, If you got it for 20k i would say well bought

It's 20K in US funds. The 28K asking price is in CDN currency. So maybe less than 20K if he'll negotiate. C3's aren't selling very well right now so I imagine he'll dicker a bit.

Now that's a C3 mod I can get behind. Looks great. Nothing radical and works perfectly with the rest of the car. I've been mulling over some front bumper work on my '76. I'm not chrome bumper obsessed. I'd just like to shorten the car up a bit. Pardon my photoshop skills, but this is what I have in mind. There's also a rear chrome bumper kit out there that can be used without the chrome pieces. Not sure if it's still available but it would work nicely with my front bumper idea. My insurance company (Hagerty) said no problem if I remove the 5 mph bumper parts. The agent I talked to just laughed and said it would still be safer than a T bucket. He said it would be classed as a custom instead of stock original for premium purposes.

if they are further back and could evacuate the heat from the radiator , yes. But I think they are in front of the radiator and can’t be used. So I don’t think they would have a practical use and therefor I would get rid of them, or make them very shallow like the original, it then adds asthetic value..I have an L88 hood and want to open the front of my scoop to evacuate heat....just not brave enough yet.

Yah a hood scoop should ideally be functional. Otherwise they're like toupees and breast implants. I can spot both a mile away (everybody's good at something right?)

Nothing wrong with constructive comments the way you say you do it. Besides, for every aggravating buyer out there there's an aggravating seller. I often have to ask a bunch of questions that should have already been answered in the ad. Or I get there and find out something is not as represented, and so on.
I am probably one of those guys...I try to ask questions based on things I see in the pictures, which are not mentioned in the text...trying to give buyers who may not know much about corvettes a bit of insight into the car....I wish I had someone doing that for me when I bought mine...but the key is I try not to be a dick about it.

I've read some interestikng stories about custom cars. I'm lead to believe that it's not too unusual to find that a custom car is really just a bondo/fiberglass sculpture masterpiece with cardboard, wadded up newspaper, duct tape, shaved styrofoam, coat hanger wires and so on underneath the bondo and fiberglass. Big Daddy Ed Roth?

I have some pics somewhere of a guy building a 1/2 scale Mustang using an old golf cart. He used cardboard and tape and lots of Styrofoam carved up with a hot knife. The knife was a heated wire instead of a blade. Kinda looked like a cheese slicer. He made the mould for the fibreglass Mustang body with it. The screeching sound of Styrofoam being handled is worse than fingernails on a chalkboard to me so there's zero chance I'll ever give it a try,

Mako Shark conversions are more often out of proportion than not and this is no exception.......I have seen maybe three Mako's in my life that the front end looked like it was on the car right.....
Stance is a big deal with these too......
This thing isn't terrible but I think you would have to like it.......

You're right, stance is everything. I have seen a few done right. although this one isn't bad but it has a lot going on. The flares and the a Mako Kit. then the greenwood style fender extractors on top of the fenders.. While I cannot say I'm in love with it, I can not say I hate it either.
The rear window as impractical as they are I cannot wait to get the one from Mesa. Ill take pictures when it comes hopefully the next one will be a standard that I will drop the 496 in front of thats waiting for a home.

Surprised its still up 4 sale. Figured it would be gone by now as its pretty cool. i meant well bought at 20k cdn, That is what i would put it at. A 69 with a 427 is a great combo and if u are looking for a 1 of a kind vette this is the one. I would be interested but its a bit of a drive to see it.

I like some of the customizations, but IMO the proportions of the car are thrown off. The front end is way too long, and driver visibility looks challenging. But I guess to each their own...
