C3 to C4 or C5 wheel conversion
I have seen some autocross people that are running c4 and c5 wheels on their c3. has anyone done this? I am told you need a special spacer and that C4 ZR1 17x9.5 wheels work? but would like some feedback before I jump off the deep end... oh no fender flares here....
Is there a thread already out there I should look at??

URP! UGLY! IMHO if you use wheel spacers you lose! Wheel spacers are for idiots who bought the wheels FIRST and then try to make them fit. Twice the chance for a loose wheel and breaking studs. Twice the movable contact area twice the dissimilar metals. Measure the correct offset and get the CORRECT WHEEL.
Potentially another C-3 bites the dust. You wont get 9.5 " wide wheels to fit a C-3 WITHOUT Mods. They are designed for 8" wheels, upped from 7" wheels.
Wheel spacers $50, new fender $4000.

That said, everyone has their opinion on wheel adapters and of course whether or not a certain wheel looks good on a car. Jeep and truck guys use adapters too. Try to buy hubcentric type (my rears weren't, no issues. I just made sure to torque opposite sides studs and make multiple passes). Adapters open up a lot more available wheel options. I'm sure there are some threads already on this.
Hope this helps.
