Need Alan 71 engine bay pictures
Alan 71 - if you see this, please message me. I need your engine bay pictures!
I looked at an old post but they were stored on photobucket and now I can't see them.

I last spoke to him over a year ago and he was fine. He decided to stay off the forum in order to avoid some of the nonsense. Simple as that. Ike

Alan has been gone (and missed) for a couple of years now and it really doesn't look like he's coming back, (I was hoping maybe he just took a break)
Maybe try NCRS or ask specific questions, there's a lot of people on here who also have nice, original, and restored cars

That's too bad about Alan - he was a great help and always so friendly.
Thanks 71 Green! Those are helpful. Right now I'm working on the radiator fan...do you happen to know what that is supposed to look like? Are the blades black? Metal? How about the center hub where the blades connect? What color? Looks like the fan clutch is a shiny metal from these pictures....

Do you have Dropbox I could send you a version of the 70-72 information manual with lots of detailed information.
For the L-46 engine the fan shroud were a fiber glass and resin in a black look produced by Union Carbide Corporations last 3 digits were 109 of its part number. The fan was a gloss black and the fan clutch was natural aluminum and steel. Other then most typical green balance paint marking.

The finned aluminum fan thermostatic unit is bare aluminum....and it should stay that way. It needs to 'read' and 'transfer' heat to the coil within, so the unit can function properly at the appropriate temperature. I perfer to paint bare metal parts (alternator case, etc), but that fan unit remains bare. Once it oxidizes to a dull gray, it stays that way--and it keeps 'doing its thing'.
