82 Value after sitting For 10+ Years

No 82 is a 25k car. Maybe the first or last one built.

Why would the "first or last one built" command that kind of money?
Is there some kind of NCRS magic about first off the line and last of the line?

$15K. You heard it here first. Had mine appraised for a total loss accident and this was the value. Most everthing rated aove average in coming up with the appraisal. Check put cargurus, nada, hemmings, hagarty, etc. $15 - #16K.

$13,912 according to Corvette DNA with what options I can see from the photo. Maybe tell her to download the app and she will get a value around what I did and then you or your son doesn't have to be the bad guy in telling her that she's dreaming.

I bet I know where the $25K number came from.
Add $5K to the average price for having an above average, low mile car (as perceived by the seller), and there's your $25K. Unfortunately for the seller, these are ASKING prices. I'm sure we've all seen some crazy asking prices on Craigslist and elsewhere.

Zoomed in on the pictures, that paint is phenomenal if factory original. Not sure about what's going on with those tail pipes... long and chrome in the picture. Appears to have camel color interior. optioned well with wheels and power antenna but painted tops. Tires are not original, it has Eagle GT +4 on it. They may be pretty old though. Agree with others, while I am a fan of the '82 model run, this can is simply not worth $25k.
Tell her these cars are like baseball cards and other collectables, worth a lot of money to the right person looking to reconnect with a memory.

2022 C3 of the Year Finalist - Modified
Its perfectly legitimate for a poster to ask for value estimates on Corvettes on a Corvette forum. But what I notice all the time, usually from the same people, that any rubber bumper Corvette is just junk, and worthless, and if anyone was stupid enough to buy the car at all, it would be $8000-$10,000. The bias is clear and I guarentee you its coming from the owner of the exalted "chrome bumper" Corvette. And while the values are set by the market, what many of the posters on this forum fail to realize is that there are actually people who like, and want, later model C3 Corvettes, especially cars in decent condition like this one. And despite YOUR idea of what they are worth, what matters is what the buyer who wants the car is willing to pay. Obviously, for you, you are not interested, so for YOU, the car is worth nothing. My point is simple,.....there are people who might see this car as exactly what they want. It appears to be a very nice and clean later model C3.....a car some may see as desirable, no matter what you think.
My suggestion to the OP is that they should pass on to the owner that $25,000 is most likely too high for this car, but that does not mean it needs to be given away. I would suggest starting at $15,000, and try to make sure that the ads in Ebay, or wherever have lots of great pictures showing the condition. There are buyers for lots of things, and a car value is not based solely on the model year. The same people who tell you that this car is worth nothing support the stupidity of the prices at BJ, and other big auctions.
If I was in the market for an 82, I would probably pay $15,000 for this car if it was as nice as it appears.

She didn't like the available info so she wants to have it detailed and going to consider taking it to Barrett Jackson - WITH A RESERVE- which is a local event for her.

Derek...I see A LOT of CE's going for that and more. The current 'high' for CE's is $39k (sold!) for a car with 795 miles on it.
Having said that....The Barrett Jackson Lady will get a complete education in the 2 minutes the '82 goes across the block. Where it might sell for $15k, and then she has to pay 10% seller's premium, so she'll realize $13.5k
Nice color Tho!!!!!

There is no better way to determine the value of something than to put it up for auction. At least, the value to that audience on that day.
At any rate, you and your son should be off the hook. A win all around!

IF its an 82 Collectors Edition (gold color) with sitting that long plus all the known leaks, it is not worth much more then $6-8K.
It WLL need at least the following
tires, hoses, belts, filters, gaskets, weatherstriping, gas tank drain/clean, fuel line flush, radiator flush, TBI rebuild, total brake rebuild and prob most of the sensors replaced.
AND that's if the engine internals havent rusted enough to need a compete engine rebuild
Her $20-25K is a pipe dream as that price strata is reserved for under 10K miles museum pieces with every scrap of documentation laminated along with Top-tier show awards.................................. ....
If its not a CE, $4-6K.
rebuilding an 82 right now................................and have gone thru all the above

Here is the 'result' from B-J Scottsdale..... Gold 1982.
She is in for a rude awakening!
SOLD No reserve.....$11,500 minus 10% sellers premium = $10,350

That's a nice car , I could see that with a asking price of 25k on some sites , I would say it's worth at least 15k . Don't believe in the 5k into the motor to repair oil leaks that's a joke , valve cover gaskets, oil pan, tranny pan , tail shaft seal you should be able to start with that and a new battery for less than a grand . I would start there and test drive see what you got.

I don't think so. While some Corvettes of that era did come with GoodYear Eagles, from the factory, they weren't the GT+4s, to the best of my knowledge.
EDIT........Op, if you can, please get back to us, as to what the owner winds up doing with the car. And hopefully, after it sitting for 10 years, she doesn't simply try to start it up, and drive it to the detailer's shop, and/or the B-J auction!

anything sitting that long has to have a good reason,
the detailers will milk her for a thousand just to power wash it, clean it up and a couple cans of stop leak. and then they will find a couple things that will cost more thousands to even make it sellable.
of course then she has to plate it, insure it.. lines at the DMV, high priced insurance salesmen.
then she has to get it to BJ, spend the week with it, babysitting it, and pay all those fees, especially if you want to to cross the line in prime time. and all the gray hair that goes with that. not for the inexperienced.
title? probably lost.
look at ebay comps and that is what is realistic when trying to sell quickly.
pump the price up 30% from the ebay comps and one will have to wait for that special buyer but this car might be special enough to draw that special buyer.
love that garage floor!
