Default Aftermarket Radio Mounting Plate Options - where to find?!?

Hi all -- trying to put an aftermarket radio in my 69 coupe. research pointed me to some good forum posts and I found the "American International FP-306" plate as the best way to go about mounting a typical aftermarket radio. But... I can't find it available for purchase anywhere! The only website that has it is a bonanza . com, and after I ordered it, never received and had to file a claim to get my money back...

Does anyone know a vendor where I can purchase this?

Can I fabricate one myself?

thanks all in advance!

How about selling the radio and buying something designed to fit, an example of one vendor below.

It's a great idea! But I like the functionality of my unit and don't really mind cutting the bezel up and not striving for the classic look. If I really can't find anything and can't find a solution, might have to go that route however... thank you for the reply

If it is a single DIN radio you can buy a center bezel already designed for it but they are pricey.

Yes, I found those, but at close to $200 plus, I might as well just buy a retro-looking unit! thank you for the suggestion

I put a single din in my 80. Cut the dash opening and then I found radio filler plates on e bay. Used one of those and it looked factory. On my 72 I just bought the dash plate that was made for it.

Here you go. Here is where you can order it and you can see some pics where I installed a while ago. https://www.corvetteforum.com/forums...post1583872412

And here are some pics I did last week when I installed a non-CD replacement (cheap one just to see if I like it), haven't played CDs in ages. I have a USB flashdrive that will store thousands of songs. Fascinatingly no depth. I will probably replace with one of those DIN 1 stereos that have a pop-up screen so I can install a rear view camera later.

Thank you so much! I actually found that thread and tried ordering through mobile-emotions, but my order was cancelled. It seems that the FP-306 product simply was discontinued. I cannot find it anywhere.

I may just have to figure something else out

Bummer. Did you give them a call to see what the story is?

Here. These guys allegedly have one left --- not sure who they are, but if you need one you can ask quick. https://www.bonanza.com/listings/Ame...ics-/648848233

And I did find out part number is American Internation FP306 .... after looking around I also saw it mentioned in other posts on the forum.

I had the same issue with mobile emotions. The story is they bought several hundred a while back but sold out, would not be getting any more, and were considering making more out of aluminum but nothing was set. I suggested they remove it from their website to which they agreed when they figure out how. I decided I'm going to get some abs and fabricate my own. Worked on the template today. The measurements are rough but it's a start.

Side note: if you have a broken console (mine was at the poorly designed weak point), there is a fantastic fix using a product called Panel Bond. It's not cheap and you will need to fabricate some supports but it works!!

I searched for "C3 Corvette radio bezel" on ebay and found this. Ad says new item so maybe it is still available?!

That looks like something you could make yourself. Still would have to cut you factory bezel.

Leave your stock radio, but disconnect it, and put a Bluetooth amplifier in instead. Like this Kenwood unit, or this Pyle unit for half as much, or any of a dozen others. I'm doing this currently in a non-Corvette.

If you do hack up your center console, please consider buying a used one that is already hacked up, or a new one that has the 1 DIN mount already.

I bought this yesterday. Don’t have it yet but will review it when I get it.

I have the same mounting arrangement and it worked out great. With a Kenwood media stereo, Sony replacement speakers, and a couple of Polk Audio bookshelf speakers in the back, I can blast out a clean sound even over the turbo mufflers.

Kenwood Stereo

If the stock radio was there and the original console was pristine I would definitely consider going this route! Considering PO never had it installed and the console was already broken in two places, I figured a hack job on a hack job wouldn't be the worst think ever

Same! Figured it was worth a shot for less than $40...

Beautiful installation! I would be very happy if my final result looked this clean . Which Sony replacement speakers did you go with? Assuming that's for the kick panel speakers, correct?

Red Vette, how is the adapter fastened to the bezel, or does the radio just hold it in? I am not using it for a radio. I am going to mount a toggle switch panel to it.

Bought a huge sheet of 1/8in ABS today and started to work.. Here's the result

Final result which looks pretty awesome for my first time..

Just kept trimming and fine tuning the fit..

4ftx8ft of ABS only cost $50!! Already thought of two more projects.
