If you're asking what I use for the vette and not much else, I'd say a torque wrench. I'd say an impact wrench before I went through the suspension once. Ratcheting wrenches are sweet though all the time.

A large hammer is useful too. Although you should use it only when necessary. Sometimes you just feel like hitting something. A nice set of ratcheting wrenches are very handy for tight spots and there seems to be quite a few places where I’ve used them.

On my restoration, I have by far used my bench grinder with two different wire wheels installed the most. All the rusty parts and bolts spend time on that, either before or after the Evaporust bath.

Corvettes as well as any other vehicle will require a complete arsenal of tools if you do extensive work.
The most important tool you possess, is the one you need at the time to continue/finish a specific job.
If you work on your own car/s, over time you will have a complete set, and each and every one of them is used/important, even if it is only on that rare occasion, others are used daily.
Right tool for the job.

After 50 years of wrenching on cars and 30 of that playing with Corvettes to include frame off restorations of three C2's / C3's and another C3 in the chute there is not a single tool that I need now.
For everyday maintenance and sustainment I would say a good set of combination wrenches 1/4" - 1", 3/8" & 1/4" socket set (shallow & deep), quality screwdriver set. Also need a good pair of vise grips and a multi-meter.

This week, go-to tools include a Sawzall and an LED headlamp.
The get-you-home kit includes a multimeter, many-in-1 screwdriver, rags, power steering fluid (wife's car only), funnel, pliers, flashlight, and fix-a-flat. Also a cell phone, charger, and a AAA card.

My CAR tool box has everything including a bearing puller for the trailing arms...…..20''l x 8''w x 6"h...….tucks away nicely in the rear corner of the cargo area.
My garage tool box has whatever it takes to (re)build a Corvette.
