T Top Trim and Birdcage Repair
Some nice clear silicone to seal it up!
The only rust I’ve seen on the cage.
Chrome trim
Hey guys, I was Digging deep in my can of worms and pulled out the t top trim. And the chrome is done. I got A quote for a rechrome for $385 for the rear trim pieces. Has anyone painted them before? If so do you guys have any pictures. With that price tag I’m debating on painting them with a few coats of clear. What are your guys thoughts?

Hi,
Paint is a possibility since only the roof panel weatherstrip seats against it.
Regards,
Alan
I'd clean all the old sealers that have been added over the years and start off fresh.

Hi,
As I said you're going to have to remove all the old fillers and sealers that have been applied over the years to get an idea what might be required as a birdcage repair.
I'm not a fan of using POR 15 for anything.
Regards,
Alan

Melting Slicks
I had the Cowl induction hood grille, and the 2 rear deck vent grills chromed, after I cleaned off all the paint and used a wire wheel to get them nice before plating. Total cost was $125 about 4 years ago.
What the OP wants to have plated is a very small surface area compared to bumpers.
A good tip to find a plating shop in your area is to go to a cruise-in and ask around. See what the final product looks like. You will get a very wide range of prices from a simple chrome job to a "show quality" job.
