Default Oil Debate

I have been having a debate, with a friend about oil. He's been trying to tell me oil, has an expiration date. He noticed on top of the container there was a date, of lets say 1/26/2018. I told him that is the born on date, not an expiration date... Dude, this is not a container of milk... I just checked the container I have in my garage. And yes, there is a date. I believe its the fill date and lot number under it... I'm I right..

It seemed to survive in the ground for a few million years, so I'm guessing what's on your self is fine...

Ask the EPA if you spill a few million gallons.

The problem with old oil is that the additives can settle out and the container if not sealed tight is prone to sucking in moisture.

Both are easy to remedy -proper storage.

I have heard of old USED oil becoming acidic but as far as I know, no, there is no expiration date on an unopened container.
