Hey, you wanna sell it?
For about the hundredth time I got asked by a stranger if I want to sell/trade my 68 bb convert. The latest was a guy with a nice C6 pumping gas at the pump next to me. He wanted to trade his for mine. One of these times I'm going to say yes, just to see how fast they back out of the offer.

Just another Corvette guy
I'd take the '68 roadster over any C6.

I always say yes it’s for sale. How much is the next question. I throw out a stupid price. Most say no it’s not worth that and really have no idea what’s even in the car. If someone wants to pay a stupid price it’s gone. I can always build another one. Sometimes it makes for interesting conversation most of the time they just walk away.

I think I'd keep the 68 , looks more like a car than the C-6 does. I do love the C-6 . I get asked about my 70 also , but I don't have the guts to say yes it's for sale .

I got the Question about my '69 Camaro Convertible many times. I always asked "Whatcha got?" They always gave me a lowball offer to which I replied:
"That will get you the tires and rims. Do you want to make an offer on the body and drivetrain?"

I have in the past just told them a number about 75% higher than I would really take and tell them there is room to negotiate. Usually they just are full of BS. But if they agreed I would take their money and they could have the car. After all it can be replaced with something else. I had many cars that I said I would not sell but have sold them to get another, and another.....

Had a friend who had a mint MkIV Supra Turbo. Guy followed him off the interstate and asks him what he would sell it for. He tells the guy $65000. The guy says “sold.” They went to his bank and he got his money right there.

Good Supra turbos are getting scarce and have a cult following -probably worth $65K. I have a 93 RX-7 with 420 rwhp and over $90K invested that I could sell for $30K if I was lucky. If I live long enough, the market may catch up to what I think the car is worth. In the meantime the car is good for embarrassing some of the new muscle car owners. Zoom-Zoom.

I debated whether to buy the 68 convert or a C6 convert two years ago. I liked the C6, but the prospect of getting one with a problem with the electronics convinced me to get the 68, with old school ignition and fuel control that I know how to fix. Plus, the car is worth more $$ every year I keep it.

Have some fun with them.
Say "It's a pretty old car, I'd probably be happy if I could get $10K for it.
I'm a little busy right now but give me call tomorrow" Then write down a wrong number and give it to them.

I too throw out a ridiculous number to anyone who asks because I'd damn sure let it go for that number. I guy in our group that goes to Carlisle had a passerby offer him good money for his really nice 67 300HP 327 coupe with air. Our friend countered the passerby with an even higher number than the passerby offered, and sure enough, the car sold. Our friend took the profit he made on the 67 and bought a C5 Z06 and tracks the car and has a blast with it.

Its weird,
Under cover with no front clip i still average 2 notes on the front door do i wanna sell the vette,
Its rare that if im working on it which as you know isnt daily that i dont have at least one cat ask if its for sale
I think some are your car ballers thinking they will steal a jewel from a rube
Sometimes that rube sells his sows ear for way more than its worth to some fool who watched buyme jackson too much,
But some sound like nice guys who dont have the funds if you did say yes and it was cheap,
I dont get all ego inflated,
, i like it better than what anyone would pay for it....
