1971 convertible. Original numbers matching motor. Car has gone through a frame off restoration about 5 years ago. I would say paint is 7.5 out of 10 as there are chips and cracks in a few places. Essentially stock (except paint) high option car (Tilt steering, Power Steering, Looks like at one point it had factory AC, etc.). Has hardtop and softop.

Any pics of the undercarriage, better pics of engine bay, any susp mods, etc. Was this really a body off build?


For example, my 68 roadster was a body off 7 years ago, same motions paint scheme, new frame, all VBP, Tom's 12 bolt , 5 speed, C4 brakes, Steeroids Rack and pinion, custom one off interior, 6k stereo system, high HP motor, shaved fire wall, engine bay painted same color as car, etc and I paid 45k.


The one your looking at I see a 20k car without a bit more info. Whats his asking price?

depending on location, I would say mid $20's, higher up North, lower down south where there is more competition for rust free frames

I noticed the original hood and wiper door were removed and replaced with the later '73-'76 style hood at some point during the restoration. If you buy the car you might want to ask the seller if those parts are still available.

Well I bought the car again.

Long story short - I owned this car 6 years ago. I had sold it to a guy out of New Orleans after realizing that it was going to be way too much work (and money) than I wanted to deal with at that time.

The car was restored, frame off (birdcage repaired), everything. The owner text me several pics during the restoration process. Oddly enough, I bumped into him about a year later at the airport just as he was finishing it. He explained everything he had to do and told me he had invested over $40k in the car. He didn’t want to sell it at that time but he did offer it to me a year later. Timing was bad as I had just bought another car.

Well fast forward 5 years later, I decided to search on craigslist for corvettes. I was looking for a C2 and guess what I see. The car was listed for sale in Arkansas. Different owner now but the same car (vin confirmed).

I still want a C2 but once I realized it was the same car I was drawn to it.

Without air and not factory stock appearing, if no rust you should be able to get mid $20K in the spring.

Just my opinion and with your additional info, If everything you say and without rust issues, 20 to 24. It would bring much more if it had upgraded engine, trans, susp, interior, brakes, engine bay. 7.5 out of 10 is not bad in my opinion on paint/body. After all, your not buying a 180k foose car.


So I take it you've bought it back....congrats and enjoy the car for what it is. Its a very nice looking car. Could you build it for what you paid....doubtful.

I'm not one for non-std. stuff but to me the color scheme looks really nicely done. Plus that hard top looks sweet. From the pictures, I totally dig it...though obviously in person vs. pics can be a different world.

I'm not big on the "Heartbeat of America" 80s/90s logo stuff on an early 70's car, but that's me...and that's a simple change if you wanted to do it.

So in my opinion, thumbs up! I can see where they spent easily in the $40s from where it started. Bet it gets more head turns and comments than a typical 70-72 convertible.
