From my understanding when the movie people asked korky to build the car they wanted a one off, a really loud in your face tacky type zenith of the custom corvettes popular in the 70s
So like it or hate it ( not much middle ground ) 40 years later its likely the most well known corvette of all time.
The right hand drive was done very low tech, a sprocket and chain drive idea that went from right side to steering box on left, it caused the column to be at a hard angle with the steering wheel in your lap, people who have say it sucked to drive it,
