Default SS Side Pipes

Holy canoly, why is this such a hard find? All I want for my '81 is stainless steel side pipes. Plain and simple, no coatings no nothing. Just pure stainless steel. Hooker offers nothing, Doug's offers nothing. I'm left with OBX?!?!... anyone have other recommendations (that are similar to hooker style)? This shouldn't be a tall order from the likes of hooker and dougs... any other brands I'm missing?

Thanks, I'll check them out, and I should also add, what's the general verdict on OBX pipes? From what I'm seeing it's.. "meh, ok.."

When I go to Carlisle tomorrow, I'll see if ACP (Stahl) is making their headers in stainless. Kerry usually has a display there.

you didnt mention of your 81 was SBC BBC or LS powered...
Hooker has SBC and NO BBC in stainless !!!
I have Asked them if they would consider a short run of Super comps for BBC in stainless (I only need the headers in raw...) im not holding my hopes up

OBX has SBC and BBC in stainless (however the 1 7/8 primaries are too small for my 502 according to GMPP)

My mistake, I was searching on the mfg site not jegs and now that you point it out it's there, just hidden.

So whats the verdict on these now-a-days? Worth the money? They're made in mexico now right? Which as far as I'm concerned may as well be china so I'll seriously consider the OBX considering most say they're comparable in quality (correct me if I'm wrong).

She's staying SBC, I'll check out the few other places you guys mentioned, but Dougs, Hooker, and OBX was my initial consideration. Whats the consensus on quality (ignoring price) for them?

I've had the "made in Mexico" stainless Hookers on my car for 7 years now. They fit great and have held up well. They have turned a slight shade of gold which looks good with my Marboro Maroon paint.

I have the SS hookers on my car and love them!! I you still have the CCC you will need to drill a header and weld a bun and you will have to use a heated O2 sensor. not a big deal very easy to do.

Default stainless hooker sidepipes

I just checked out the stainless Hookers on Jegs, and they claim they are Made in USA.

Nice looking stuff! Maybe someday for me!

A friend of mine has the stainless set for his SBC , had it for at least 7 years (roughly) and he's just polished them back up and they look brand new . fit perfect as well . Sorry I haven't seen an OBX set around here, from what I hear about them ,on this forum, is the welds can sometimes look a bit back-yard style

I talked to the ACP guys at Carlisle for quite a long time. They do make stainless headers, and even better for me, they can do raised exhaust port BBC headers too.

**** that looks good... no CCC on this babe. TBH I would tuck them a little higher but I trust that's possible with a little elbow grease. Hooker seems to be the way to go despite the price point. What's sure is sure.
