New Purchase Story 1972 BB
This past week I finally bought my dream car, and I thought I should share the experience here with some folks who can appreciate my excitement.
I just joined the forum a few weeks ago and mentioned that I had dreamed of owning a C3 coupe since I was a young boy. Specifically, I remember riding in the car with my parents through a neighborhood one day and seeing a shiny red bumper car (not sure which year) in the driveway of one of the houses, and have been obsessed with them from that day on.
Over the years I have looked at C3's for sale locally and online, particularly '69-'72 models, but more recently got serious about the process. I found Corvette Forum and spent a lot of time researching/learning from all of the threads on here. When a local ad came up for a 1972 BB coupe I checked it out and thanks to the information I had picked up from this forum I was much better informed on what to consider. In particular, I had read up on engine specifications and some good threads on common modifications to ls5 engines to improve compression (and subsequently hp), so I was well prepared when I sat down with the seller to go through invoices of work done to the car. Turns out he had made some tasteful updates to help the car run smoother while boosting hp (cams / intake) while keeping much of the car original. Had I not spent some serious time on these forums, I would not have been in nearly as good a position to evaluate quality/condition of the car prior to considering making the purchase.
In the end, I ended up buying the car and am still excited about it every time I look it. Thanks to all of the excellent information on the forums, I feel confident that I got a car that is in great shape structurally and mechanically, powerful (!!!), and looks gorgeous. I am sure I am in a small percentage of car lovers here (particularly those in their 30s), but I have always thought that bumper cars are the coolest looking cars ever made, and obviously are great cars all around. Now I am beside myself because I have one right in my own garage - even more, I have the red one .
Anyway - just wanted to share the joy with you all as I am sure you have had similar experiences. Cheers!!!

Awesome welcome to the club. I remember when I bought my 72 LS5 in 2010 and can say you will enjoy it. There's something about the sound of a rat motor.

Thanks everyone!
Here are a few more pics. Mille Miglia Red ext and Saddle Vinyl interior, both have been well taken care of by previous owner. Not without blemishes, but overall are in good shape.
You can see from pics that there have been some upgrades to the engine (as I mentioned in the OP) and components such as AC and distributor, while blocks / heads are original. The most important things to me are that she consistently runs smooth and fast, and frame/body/birdcage are in good condition.
Of course, it doesn't hurt that she looks great too.
One of my favorite touches - registered with Texas plates from 1972

Thanks! I will certainly keep that in mind. Looking forward to getting out on some drives toward CS / Brenham / Bellville area - some great driving scenery out that way.

I got your 6 in Sugar Land. Here's my Silver Bullet as a grocery getter. Late in the day, the heat has broken and great time to take the no a.c. 4-sp rat out for some cheese.(asphalt) You got a great looking Corvette and thanks for presenting these cars to a generation much younger than some of us. Keep us in the loop.
